The George Hotel, Dorchester-on-Thames, Oxfordshire ★★★★
"This is an antique-style British country hotel, which is said to have been opened in 1495. The hotel is antique and unique, with ample parking spaces. There is an on-site restaurant, breakfast is very good, dinner is also very good. It is some distance from Oxford and is suitable for self-driving travel. Not suitable for bus tours."
White Hart Hotel ★★★
"Great experience at the White Hart Hotel. The host was incredibly kind and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. The place feels very genuine and has been done up very nicely. The breakfast was also very tasty, and the service by the staff also great. Would definitely recommend if going on a trip along the Thames Path."
Shillingford Bridge Hotel ★★★
"It was an experience however, we wont return. £97 for the night wasn’t even the cheapest in the area! Its very tired, dirty and run down. We booked an accessible room and was given first floor with no lift. Luckily not in a wheelchair chair but still had low mobility. It wasn’t great I fell downstairs on the first evening as the tread on the stairs are very narrow, the carpet is up and the tape is barely holding it together. The place is literally held together by gaffa tape, I struggle to see how they are meeting basic health and safety. The room Had sockets off the wall which were live. Shower had parts missing from it. Bed bases broken and dirty. No heating working so was given a floor heater with no pat testing on it. Holes in the wall. List goes on. There was some good bits The staff are very friendly. Breakfast had a good selection for the buffet. No hot coffee or hot selection though. Parking was free. Good views of the river. This place has potential to be amazing due to the location. But needs about £100k spending on it. Also: Be warned of the recommended Taxis from the hotel, they are very expensive. £64 to go 4 miles, they were called Go Green taxi, it wasn’t even late at 4pm in the afternoon! When asked for the meter was told they don’t have one as private hire!"
The Coachmakers Arms ★★★
"A great place, good location. They kindly let us leave our bags on the day we checked in so we could explore the town. Would stay again!"
The George Hotel ★★★
"I stayed for a family wedding, it was a great time had, friendly cheery staff at all levels from the cleaners to kitchen staff, every member of staff me and my children met was welcoming and polite: The room was homely, comfortable and presentable, me and children slept like babies, very comfortable beds, and the room was right temperature. Bathroom was clean and had sufficient toiletries and towels. All worked as it should the toilet, bath and shower. Breakfast was beautiful, great selection, again helpful polite staff. The car park was good and reasonably sized spaces, Overall a lovely hotel, will definitely be back to try the afternoon tea and explore the area"
Ferryman`s Cottage at the Beetle & Wedge ★★★
"We highly recommended the Beetle & Wedge accommodation to our good friends visiting from abroad for 2 nights this past week. Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed by the poor welcome, service and general attendance they received. Having booked many months in advance, we expected they would be given the best possible suite. However, they were put into a cold, stuffy, dark converted garage in the road behind, with no outlook from the small window. When we questioned it, we were told other rooms were available and they agreed to move them. We did not welcome the inconvenience and we remain curious as to why they were not put there in the first place. As the room was much better, we were happy to give them the benefit of the doubt at that stage. Unfortunately, after a day out the following day, they returned to their room which had not been cleaned or serviced, with morning coffee cups, bed, and the bathroom untouched. Furthermore, at 8.30 am on the last morning of their stay, they went to reception to sign out, say goodbye and hand in the keys. They found the doors locked and there was no one in sight! Having spoken so highly about the Bettle & Wedge to our friends who had travelled all this way expecting to stay in special accommodation, we felt embarrassed and let down by the neglect they received and the appalling lack of customer service. We certainly will not recommend the Beetle & Wedge again and, sadly, neither will we be eating there!"
The Town Arms ★★
"We stayed at the Town Arms Waddingford for a night away break, the staff where very welcoming and the rooms where very clean and well presented. A really nice and central based pub. We had lunch and breakfast there and it was perfect. We will be back 100%."
