My room was dirty , bad stains on the carpet , cobwebs over kettle and dirty hand marks all over the door

Very comfortable bed, I slept like a baby and actually slept in longer than I usually do. The shower was great also with plenty of hot water. Location ok, Aldi and Tesco across the road and about a ten minute drive to Wade bridge centre for restaurants.

We arrived late due to issues on the motorway. Relieved there was a member of staff on the front desk and received a pleasant welcome. Went straight to bed but noticed while my husband could log on to wifi I was unable to with the code. After flushing the toilet it was taking a very long time to finish refilling. As it was the cistern continually dripped all night long. It was impossible to close the bathroom door to quieten the noise as the handle had broken meaning it wasn’t possible for the mechanism to connect to the doorframe. I woke intermittently all night to the dripping. That morning I went to have a shower to realise there wasn’t a bath mat. So after washing I stood in the tray and dried off as much as I could but once stepping on the floor I made it quite wet still from wet feet. There was a shower curtain that stuck to my body when washing and it was mouldy. Once out of the shower I looked for a hair drier and none to be found. Once dressed I went to the reception and told hair driers and shower mats are not provided. I could borrow a hair drier if I wanted and I was to use my hand towel to stand on. I would have expected both items as standard. Just putting a sign up on the shower wall to warn you the floor may become slippery is ridiculous. I also mentioned to reception that despite a note saying we could log two devices to the wifi code it would only work for one. I was told I had to get the log in and password from my husband for his device and take that. This is ludicrous. It was a twin room. We should have both been able to have our own log in to use the wifi. When we arrived late at night we were conscious others might be sleeping and crept in and quietly closed the door. This courtesy was not matched by those next door getting up and leaving at 6am. While the room looked much more pleasing than the one we had stayed in 10 years previously, when we last stayed with Travelodge it appears it was just a tiny improvement in style but no substance. The person who fitted the wall hung toilet didn’t have a spirit level when they fixed it to the wall. When you sat on it there was a very prominent slant leaving you with the feeling you had to put an arm against the wall to stay sitting. There was also barely any point having a window. It is less than two feet from a reinforced embankment so no view of any sky or indeed anything other than a wall, but more importantly it is not even your back up fire escape as they have put a lock on the window and it doesn’t open further than a couple of inches The sheets were also too small and don’t fit the bed and were really rough and scratchy. In summary Positives Modern decor Comfy beds Nice big bath sheets that wrap around you Nice and welcoming night porter Negatives Lack of basic facilities you would expect in accommodation Ridiculous limits set on wifi Not safe as no window fire escape. After our last stay 10 years ago little has improved. Yes it is budget but even

Frienly helpful staff. Clean room with plenty of parking. Great location with fantastic views and its next to a good food serving pub.

Facilities at the travel lodge and locally were all in good order and sufficient for our short stay. Location and services gave easy access to local amenities and places of interest.
