My stay at the Volcano Forest Inn exceeded expectations. It was the perfect setting and quite the adventure driving in the light rain a few hundred yards down a dirt road surrounded by thick trees to finally arrive at this beautiful Inn nestled in the Volcano Forest. Jon texted the entry code as well as very detailed instructions and information prior to my arrival which was very useful as well as welcoming. If I texted a question, he would promptly respond. Jon was there to greet me as I drove up and was very friendly and helpful. He showed me all of the amenities: an accommodating kitchen full of kitchenware, plenty of snacks, coffee, tea, fresh fruit, pasties, etc.; the living room with a flatscreen TV showing a live stream of the volcano; my room which was very spacious, clean, and comfortable. Although all of the rooms were occupied, it was always quiet and peaceful. Not once did I encounter another guest while using the kitchen to get coffee and breakfast during my entire stay. It truly felt like I had the whole place to myself. Volcanoes National Park was minutes away and the close location made it very convenient for me to access the Park whenever the lava was flowing. I will stay at this beautiful, and serene Inn every time I visit the Big Island from south Maui. I was looking for peace and solitude and found it at the Volcano Forest Inn. Unforgettable experience!

The property is very basic. No glasses or tissues in the bathroom, although glasses are available in the shared kitchen. The host, Jon, is very friendly. The location, as shown on Google maps, is incorrect. Better instructions before arrival are essential. The beds are comfortable but the bedding is too heavy for the climate. This is an acceptable choice but is only okay, not great. $80 cleaning fee for a basic room is excessive.

We had a wonderful stay at the Volcano Forest Inn. The large room, access to the full kitchen/common area, the quiet location surrounded by the rainforest, and the private deck allowed us to enjoy a relaxing visit. The inn has a great location just outside the national park. We were able to stop at several places before they became busy. There was a good amount of information on the area and a tv with current info on the volcano. The rooms are well maintained and comfortable. Overall, it was a great visit that I strongly recommend.

It was a beautiful place with a wonderful walk in closet. The breakfast offerings were delicious, especially the cookies by Butter and Champagne Bakery. I would stay again there in a heart beat.

Great Location Very dated, our room was clean, (musty odor) and location to Volcano Park was very close. Breakfast was great and host was very nice. The property really needs to be overhaled, window screens and windows need to be cleaned, new carpet on front steps replaced, mold on the outside of building, a paint job for sure is needed. Pictures on the website really need to be updated. Make sure you read the fine print about paying a cleaning fee upon check in, We paid and extra $90 + taxes.

The room is spacious, clean, and with private bathroom, stylish room design, very comfortable mattress. Vendors come home to make healthy fresh snacks, the owner get fresh fruits in the morning, has countertop water dispenser, friendly environment, guests have opportunities to set together to exchange travel experience during meal times

It was a nice property overall! The bed wasn’t the most comfortable, but you can’t beat the proximity to the park! Very nice owner will work with you for what you need!

Good base for exploring Volcano National Park Nice place, very quiet location. Secluded setting was a little difficult to find at first. Entrance is a long gravel road into a rain forest like location. Not a B&B, but the management provides coffee, teas, fruit, packaged pastries and other items in a large shared kitchen. Location is less than a mile from the entrance to Volcano National Park. Check in and out were done by following instructions on a extensive text message. Be aware that Volcano is a very small town so meal options are a little limited. There's a very nice but expensive resort restaurant and perhaps three owner operated small restaurants. Overall a very nice place to stay.
