I really wanted to give this place top marks and had really high hopes. Unfortunately, for us, it just wasn’t good. I should qualify this and tell you we’ve been blessed to travel all over the world and had experience glamping in a similar set up in the Serengeti at an adventure camp. We had been referred to UC by some friends and were really excited to spend four nights here outside of Zion in late October. I also have to be honest about the time of year we booked. It was the last week of their year that UC was open. This is for good reason. It’s cold at night in late October in Zion. We knew that going in but took the chance the wood burning stove in the tent would be sufficient to keep us cozy and warm. Spoiler alert - it wasn’t. Unless you get up every two hours to add wood, you’ll be shivering by 2 am. They did give us hot water bottles for our bed. Nice touch I thought. The good - the set up is pretty cool with the tents all dotted on the hill side overlooking the corner of Zion with the red rock stunning at sunset. We loved the thought of sitting each night at our tent or the common areas around the fire taking it all in. It’s very removed and I can see how that would be desirable for many people. The bad - Where can I begin? As good as the location may be removed a bit for some, we found it to be too far out around the west side of the park. You had to drive 45 min to get to Springdale and if you’re spending a lot of time in the park, just be aware. There is a west side of the park you can explore from UC, but you still have to drive back out and around to get there. We had dinner the first night outside and it was okay. We didn’t eat dinner enough here to give honest feedback. It’s pricey but you are a captured crowd here. No food allowed in tents per rules. You can get drinks and they will get you ice and a cooler for your tent but have to eat up in the common areas. Let’s talk about the common areas. I was most excited to sit around a real fire with warmth and the camping feel to it. Nope. Two gas fire pits with low flame and not much help getting the thing lit or keeping it lit. We watched kids from the UK trying to roast marshmallows over barely lit flames and maybe I should have checked before if the fires were real or not. Perhaps it was the fire restrictions keeping real fires away. I hope so because the public fire pits were not good. The biggest challenge we faced night one was the wind. I know they aren’t controlling Mother Nature, but as soon as we went to bed, we realized sleep was going to be a challenge. The winds were gusting all night. The tent was rattling and our chairs and table outside crashed down and my wife had her suitcase inside toppled over because the wind was rattling the tent so bad. We thought it was coming down at one point. We got no sleep. The star gazer tent we were in was used because we were wide awake all night looking through the little plastic slit in the ceiling. I guess I thought it

This is a great little spot tucked way back in the canyon. It’s beautifully designed we enjoyed our stay. The pros are. They have a great open area for campfires and they serve food and like the main intent. Getting into your own tent may require a golf cart or if you’re able to walk It’s pretty doable. If few things about the cabin, I would definitely improve upon is that they do not offer any type of comfortable seating. They have two Rocky chairs on the small porch and two really low leather sling chairs inside. All four chairs were rickety and unstable. It would be really nice to relax in a nice comfortable Chair on your deck, but they just don’t offer that in the stargazer tent. I like to say that the Star geezer that was a big hit once it was dark. We join the others for s’mores. They tell you to call or text for a ride, but there’s no cell phone service so this a little difficult to do. We managed to find signal after a while just enough to send a text. I would not recommend the tents one through eight or 10 you get a lot of golf cart traffic camping, downhill, and cars coming in and out. It’s quite dusty. Request a tent on the hill They offer a stove, kind of set up, supposed to heat the 10 hours to not work and end up, smoking us out. But we stayed warm under the cover.

We have stayed in many great tented sites over the years. This was not one. The tent wasn’t too clean, it had tears in it and a gap “big enough for a ground hog to get through,” as my husband said. (I posted a photo) The chairs weren’t comfortable at all. A prior guest’s plastic headband was still under our bed, so obviously no one cleaned under there. Our view was obscured by many other tents, not the advertised view. ( see my photo of our view) Because of a vermin problem, no food was allowed in the tent, and there were rat poison boxes outside the tents. I wonder how many animals were poisoned by them. One plus was the helpful staff, excluding the restaurant wait staff. She was more interested in socializing with other employees than doing her job. I asked three times for cups for our beers, and finally got one, which my husband and I shared! She dropped off someone else’s order at our table while I was up front waiting to order! The food was very good, but because of the poor service, we ate there only once. I rarely write bad reviews, but I want to help others avoid the mistake I made in relying on the lovely website!

Under Canas are excellent camp resorts. The cabins are superbly laid out with extremely comfortable beds and great bathroom. While there is no air conditioning (we were there at the height of summer with temperatures in the low 100's the mister kept us comfortable at night. The view from the cabin was spectacular. The main service area has a restaurant and bar.

I recently stayed one night at Under Canvas Zion and, unfortunately, found the experience significantly underwhelming given the $1,650 nightly rate for a 2-bedroom tent. Despite a decent location and a friendly greeting team, the fundamentals fell very short of expectations. The bed was uncomfortably firm with low-quality sheets and mattress, and several guests in our group woke up with insect bites—presumably from the beds themselves. Noise from neighboring tents and passing cars made restful sleep nearly impossible. When a car drives up the drive with lights on it lights up the whole tent. The tent lacked basic touches like bottled water at night, and the build quality felt flimsy, creaking with every gust of wind and move. Every time my friend moved in their bed it woke up th whole tent. The amenities were basic with no fans despite high heat, hardly any food (which can't be taken to the rooms) and a bare bones bar. At this price point, I expected a luxury glamping experience —not a setup that felt closer to a campground. The value simply isn’t there. I shared feedback with the team but there was no followup. Clearly not a company that cares about the hospitality experience and guest relations. As it stands, we all left feeling disappointed, unrested, and overcharged. This is the first review I have ever written but felt compelled to do so given the experience, price point and lack of from the team.

Incredible site. We visited for one night in late October on our honeymoon, staying in one of the star gazer tents and it was fabulous. Clean and well maintained facilities, friendly and helpful staff - even decorated the tent for us. Great vibes and amazing scenery. Would visit again in a heartbeat.

My partner and I were spending 3 days hiking at Zion and looking for a place to stay that matched the outdoor vibe…. Enter Under Canvas. The tents were spacious and the bed was super comfortable. The staff could not have been more lovely— a special thanks to Kat and Shannon for all your tips and help! There is no wifi or electricity in the tent so you need to be wanting that type of experience, but if you are, this place is perfect. Peaceful, beautiful and full of people who are looking to enjoy nature while also enjoy basic comforts. I’ll be back!

When staying at Under Canvas, location is important. Just prior to our stay at Zion Under Canvas, we stayed at Grand Canyon Under Canvas. The latter was a disaster. Terrible location (in the middle of a plain desert field near an airport, 45 minutes away from the Grand Canyon) and the tents couldn’t stand up to the Wind Advisory we experienced that day. No sleep, and freezing. On the other hand, Under Canvas Zion was a terrific experience. Great location, no severe weather and terrific staff. They common areas could be larger and nicer, but as it is it is still worth staying. We stayed 3 nights.

This was our first UC stay. Followed by Moab and Grand Canyon locations. Staff were friendly and responsive. A unique experience and tent amenities with wood burning stove, hot shower, soft bed and toilet were great. The location is out of the way so got dark at night for stargazing. The layout of tents in proximity to each other and for access was not ideal. We were close to neighboring tents and the access road allowed vehicles on it instead of just golf carts. So there was road noise and bright light beams during the late evening and early morning. No doubt a step above regular camping and a cool experience. Not quite as serene as anticipated.
