Sixth time here in 3 years. The location is perfect for exploring the South of France. The Welcome Hotel has about 35 rooms and is perfectly situated on the harbour of Villefranche. Every room has a balcony with stunning sea views. Highly recommend. Big mention to Nellie and Mathilde at breakfast for looking after us. Will we be back in the spring.

We just wrapped up our 3 night stay at the Welcome Hotel, and it was a wonderful experience. The team at the hotel were friendly, warm and helpful, and the location is a great base for exploring Villefranche sur Mer. We booked a deluxe room and were assigned Room 54 (top floor) with a balcony. The balcony offered an amazing view of the waterfront and the pier which is used by the yacht owners coming ashore… great people watching. The bar area is very fun, with open air street level seating, and the wait staff are attentive. Breakfast is in the same space in the morning (and they have a gluten free “corner” for a small selection of pre-packaged options and were very accommodating for my wife with celiac. A tip for you… you can rent beach towels from the front desk to go down to the public beach (a 5 minute walk) and swim in the Mediterranean. This is highly recommended, very refreshing! Meghan at the front desk helped with dinner suggestions to walkable restaurants. Overall a fantastic stay, and look forward to going back !

My sister and I have just returned from a fantastic 5 day stay at the Welcome Hotel. The hotel is in the best location in Villefranche - it is right by the water and close to numerous excellent restaurants and shops. The train station is a 5-10 minute walk away and you have to walk up a large number of steps so it’s fine for a day trip to Nice but not ideal if you have luggage. All of the staff were friendly, helpful and professional. Our room was small but had everything we needed. It had a direct sea view which was breathtaking- absolutely perfect! We were so pleased that we had opted to include breakfast with our room rate as the selection far exceeded our expectations and was excellent value! Freshly squeezed fruit juices, good coffee, bread, croissants, fresh fruit salad, cold meats and cheeses, eggs, bacon, sausages, great selection of preserves and honey. We also enjoyed a drink at lunchtime or in the afternoon. It was so peaceful just to sit and people watch. There is an excellent selection of restaurants and bars right on your doorstep. We didn’t have a bad meal. We’re already planning to return next year.

Expected more for what I paid. Never provided a new set of towels, skimped on other essential amenities & didn’t inform us of the breakfast option in the hotel. The room was VERY tiny for three people. Staff friendly but I expected more for over $500/night. Location good and nice to be down by the water but would probably opt for an airbnb rental next time.

We’ve been coming here since the 1990s and love it. It’s a hotel where the total is more than the sum of its parts. Staff are lovely, rooms with a balcony are sublime. There is nothing better than taking your breakfast watching the fisherman plying his trade, the cruiser tenders doing their thing and the world passing by. People have moaned about noise, but we’ve found this dies down at a reasonable time. Service from the bar can be really slow, but hey, kick back and enjoy the vibe. You won’t get this ambience in many places. I love this place. An excellent location to visit all that the area has to offer, which is a lot!

We stayed two nights here at the end of a long trip to rest before flying back to the US, and the Welcome Hotel was absolutely the right splurge. In our one day in Villefranche, we napped in our comfortable room with romantic Chagall prints, wandered the charming waterfront, and enjoyed great room service on our patio overlooking the marina. We found the hotel staff uniformly helpful and responsive, from hiring car transfers and keeping me updated, to quickly addressing the stuck awning on our patio, to the tasty and convenient petit déjeuner each morning, this hotel was the perfect end to a lovely vacation. Next time, though, we'll stay longer!
