"The staff were incredibly attentive, and that was definitely the highlight of the stay, but other than that, this hotel is by no means a 4-star property! Regarding the staff, the gentleman who checked us in was super friendly, and the breakfast ladies were also very helpful. The breakfast was good, nothing extraordinary but I also have no complaints about it. The spa area was neglected, with very dirty windows and the changing rooms smelling of mold. The corridors and common areas all had the same problem: filthy windows and a moldy smell, giving an impression of poor cleanliness. When we got to the room, it also smelled as if it had been closed up for several days. Furthermore, the hotel is in serious need of maintenance: scratched walls, scuffed cabinets, outdated furniture and carpets, and the bathroom had signs of dampness… I believe it might have been better in the past, but the hotel urgently needs a major renovation, or its rating should be re-evaluated, because giving this hotel 4 stars is completely misleading."

"I'm returning to it every year with my group of pilgrims on the Portuguese road. Very beautiful hostel in an old private palace. Equipped kitchen and very good breakfast included. The beds are comfortable. The only small point less appreciated by the pedestrians is that the shower doors are transparent."

"We stayed for 4 nights for our wedding anniversary and couldn’t have wanted for more! 😍 Our room was upgraded to the suite which was spacious and spotless! We were met by Fernando ( and despite his wife having a recently broken foot!!) he was a fabulous host..nothing was too much trouble from breakfast to walks , restaurant suggestions and taking us to the metro and showing us the ropes! 👌 We couldn’t have asked for more and really cannot pay you enough compliments. Our stay was wonderful and we may return to meet Elisabete …a real gem…you will not be in any way be disappointed here! ❤️"

"Antonio and his staff were very friendly and warm and made me feel like family. I experienced a medical episode unexpectedly the evening I arrived and was very anxious. They fed me dinner and then Antonio, the owner whisked me to a local pharmacy for medication. The surroundings are beautiful and the buildings, Antonio told me, were once a dairy that he operated. Just wonderful."

"I would have to say that this stay was better than last year's, it all came down to being assigned a different room, I liked the layout better, the bathroom had a view, the air-conditioning worked well and was silent, there was little noise from adjoining rooms (maybe no-one else was there?) Check-in went smoothly this time (there is no reception), I called and was told that we could arrive earlier, we were meet at the door, so no confusion like last year. We self-catered for breakfast buying supplies from a local supermarket and storing in the mini-bar refrigerator. Outside the guest rooms in the corridor was a communal buffet where you can make tea/coffee, there was also a fruit basket and packaged muffins for guests. I love the location of the hotel, the decor and comfort, the views looking over to the river from our room, an easy access to the Camino path. Vila do Conde is a beautiful coastal town to visit and to wander the streets."
