Ilala Lodge Hotel

Such an amazing place to stay, beautiful.

Beautiful large rooms, comfortable beds, lush gardens sometimes with wild animals, great vibe, friendly staff, great food. Massages were affordable. Meals especially breakfast were very good. Felt safe with all the security around the hotel

Located within walking distance to the Victoria Falls, at the end of the main street. Built on three levels, it takes a bit of time to work out the best way to your room. The main area's are on what is the first floor as are many of the bedrooms, the rest being on the lower and second floor. There are two small swimming polls with plenty of seating around them and in the bar. Several lounges with seating. The hotel is within the Victoria Falls National Park, so animals do roam the grounds, however there are staff who constantly watch over them. The bedroom was large and well appointed, with patio doors for us, being on the ground floor, which opened onto the grounds where we sasw warthogs and 3-banded mongoose roamed. Plentiful water supplied as well as tea and coffee making facilities. The breakfast buffet was excellent and could be eaten either indoors or outside as too could the evening meals. A wide menu choice of both local and national cuisine. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. We had room 49, which despite it's low number was the farest away. If you are of limited ability we would suggest that you request a room on the first floor, not stairs to negotiate, and closer to the main building. Access from the majority of bedrooms is via a raised boardwalk, which in the rain can be a slippy. Umbrellas are provided. I would definately stay here again, for longer.

We had an amazing time, and we were looked after from the moment we walked into the hotel until we left. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we were happy, and they were all just so happy and a real joy to be around.

The meet and greet at the hotel was very nice. The location of the hotel and grounds are very good. The food and beverage service lets the hotel down Staff organization and training seems to be lacking.
