Tambua Sands Beach Resort

We spent two nights here and had a lovely time. Our ocean front Bure was clean and comfortable. The staff were generally nice. We enjoyed the kayak but didn't have a good snorkeling experience. Overall it was a good experience and we hope to go back again.

We only stayed two nights but really liked the hotel. This was a 'try out' stay for us! This is definitely not a 2 star rated resort. Alot of work has been completed here. The rooms are very contemporary and well appointed. The pool is sparkling clean! Well done ro Ronnie the pool attendant who takes great pride in keeping the water crystal clear. A new deck is to be built around the pool in 2024. Tui was excellent with his cooking demonstration and Masu was very funny behind the bar. These guys added to the quality of our short stay! The dining area, unlike the bures is very bland and really needs some Fijian character. The food is, at best, very good. Slightly more pricey than other resorts we have stayed in at Fiji over 5 weeks in 2023. The cocktails are also more pricey. Unless you have a car, the resort appears isolated from other eateries. Overall though, we enjoyed our two nights and would consider a return.

I had a terrible experience at this hotel. The service was abysmal, with staff displaying complete indifference to guests' needs and paying no attention. Not only was the room lacking cleanliness, but it also had a distinct odor. I wouldn't recommend staying here to anyone looking for a comfortable and pleasant stay. Very poor quality service; no cleanliness u can see from the photos; spend so much but got nothing in return; food taste is awful. Thank you

We arrived at Nadi just before darkness set in, found our transport and off we went to find Tambua Sands Resort. It was not right next door and it was very dark when we got there after about 2 hours travelling which was much more than we'd anticipated. Glad we had a pre booked driver, we'd never have found it on our own! On arrival booking in was easy and we were helped to find our private and quite well equipped Bure - in the dark! So it was early to bed to be ready for the morning - and what a morning it was, sun, clear skies, booming distant surf and the lagoon just 30m from our door- perfect! As we explored Tambua Sands we found it to be quite remote, (albeit on the main road between Nadi and Suva with frequent and inexpensive bus services), exclusive, compact yet spacious, on the beach, lazy laid back, quiet with no kids and with strong hints of paradise. Within the resort confines the beach area was clean and tidy; go beyond that and you soon find all sorts of junk and waste dumped in the scrub adjoining the beach: it is a comparatively poor area with few facilites. The reception area, bar, games area and tv display, kitchen, breakfast/dining room were all in one area which made it a bit competitive. Reception staff were excellent, helpful and considerate as were the grounds staff 'the boys'. ie sit outside your Bure and one of the boys would soon appear, calling Bula! and carrying a couple of fresh coconuts and a machete and within seconds we had the freshest coconut water to drink and flesh to eat. Tui seemed to be the leader of the gang, organising and leading activities, events, Kava ceremonies etc, some included and some as add-ons. Wi-Fi was a touch confusing, free in the lobby but additional charges for multiple devices and in the Bure. Simpler either free or a set cost for the duration of your stay. Meals and refreshments were included in our package but for us were not a highlight, some meals taking a long time to cook and present and some we saw sitting on the serving counter for extended times as the chef constructed the dish. Also, some were presented on cold plates which simply cooled the hot food. One dish, a Fijian BBQ, we found almost inedible, we sent them back and somehow the bar ran out of Sauvignon Blanc and local beer just in time for Fiji Day; our questions about restocking met with shrugs. At the other end of the culinary scale, the Nasi Goreng dish we found to be excellent! We cannot fault staff attitude to the customer but at times the smiles of the catering and bar staff seemed forced and appeared only when guests spoke to them. Perhaps it had been a long season. Overall however, we had a brilliant time at Tambua Sands, being as public or as private as we wanted, strolling the beach at sunrise and sunset, swimming and chilling - we were after all, on holiday!
