"Very disappointing stay. The staff were extremely rude and unprofessional from the moment we arrived, making us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. "Very interesting Hotel, one minute service is excellent the next not so good 🤔 Plus points first : Room Excellent & View, Food amazing choice & good quality with excellent service, Plenty of activities for the children. Not so good points: Weekend's very overcrowded by the pool & the hotel in general, reception desk is not this hotel's strongest point - Mistakes with the bill for drinks that we had already paid for but charged again. Two coffees at the pool bar 12 Lev is a bit pricey considering they are basically espresso with a bit of milk. In my view this is not a 5 Star hotel maybe a good 3-4 depending when you visit. Stay here again probably not there are very many good hotels in Velingrad."

The gym equipment needs maintenance as does the salt room in the spa, and the perfume smell pumped through the air conditioning is a bit overpowering. But overall a great experience and the best hotel I’ve stayed in Bulgaria so far. Recommended."

"I've just spent a 4 day break (paid for 3) at the maxi spa hotel. The first impression as we walked into the hotel was great! Beautiful decor maybe a little dated but that's not unusual in Bulgaria. We had a large room which I can't fault much as I said just dated. The 4 day break cost 1.350lv (£580) half board. They say it's 5 star and it's clearly not! 5 star prices at the bar but not the service, the waiting staff are pleasant but clearly haven't done customer service, the first thing I noticed is our food when ordered was served as it was prepared! I'd finished my food before my wife's came to the table. The food was always served luke warm, even the buffet food wasn't hot enough. I may seem pretty in my comments but if you claim 5 star then it should be! The spa facilities were ok, there were 3 pools two small ones and a large one. The only thing I can fault about that is, they say no one under 12, and there was a number of children under that. I'm not anti children but when you read the website and get something else. I also couldn't get a dressing grown to fit after many requests they were all to small. When you go for a relaxing break it all comes down to the details! If you claim a high standard and charge 5 star prices guests should get that! I may try it one more time and see if it improves if not I will go elsewhere. I enjoyed our 4 day break(the pool helped that) but it was last in the small details and collectively spoiled the experience"

They have reported this to the management - including the fact that initially they were not able to lock the safe, and then the employee they suspected brought them a key, which he apparently duplicated beforehand - but the management refused to investigate the matter and haven't even reported it to the police."

"I would like to express my strong dissatisfaction and disappointment regarding our most recent stay at Santé Spa Hotel. My wife and I were guests at the hotel two years ago, again at the end of January. At that time, we were extremely satisfied with everything – the food, the service, the accommodation, and the SPA facilities were all at a level fully deserving of a 5-star hotel. This positive experience was precisely the reason we chose to return for our stay from 27 to 29 January 2026, with the clear intention of resting and relaxing. Unfortunately, this time the reality was very different. The food and restaurant service were again at a good level – and that is where the positive aspects end. The rooms now show noticeable signs of wear and tear. For a hotel of this category, I would expect more frequent replacement of pillows and bed linen – a small detail, but an essential part of a comfortable stay. The real shock, however, was the SPA area. If there were a rating scale from 1 to 10, my score would be minus 10. Hygiene was practically non-existent. I do not know the official capacity of the SPA center, but it was clearly overcrowded – at least twice the reasonable number of guests. Your advertisements promise “peace and tranquility.” In reality, there was neither peace nor tranquility. Anyone looking for rest would be better off staying at home or choosing another, truly quiet place. Screaming and shouting children were everywhere. The massage pool was constantly overcrowded, with children inside and parents showing little to no concern. The water was dirty, cloudy, sometimes in different colors, with unidentified floating objects – I will let you draw your own conclusions. In the so-called outdoor thermal pool area, the scene was even more memorable. Guests were eating ice cream directly in the water, with it dripping down their hands, which were then casually “washed” in the thermal pool itself. As for the smell, I will refrain from further comment. Instead of staying in the SPA area until closing time at 8:00 PM, I was forced to return to my room at 5:30 PM, simply because the situation had become unbearable. I attempted to explain all of this to the hotel manager (Mr. Ivanov, if I remember correctly), but received a confident and dismissive response along the lines of “this is how it is,” along with the statement that the capacity could even be exceeded if necessary. We came to the hotel with the clear intention of resting. Instead, we left more irritated and even more exhausted – and, of course, having paid for the privilege. At one point, I genuinely wondered whether I was in a 5-star SPA hotel or in a place where hygiene and basic standards of decency simply do not exist. Do not assume that all published reviews reflect the full reality without moderation. The only somewhat comforting fact is that we spoke with several other families who shared exactly the same opinion and disappointment. Will I return again? The chance is zero. Since"

"I booked the hotel online based on the reviews I saw in ***********, trip advisor and hotel website. Hotel website and booking has promoted their best room being 23m2, no other rooms, and same was confirmed over phone that all rooms are as per the web site. Once we arrived we were stroked to see awkward hotel room. Room- small about 13-14 m2. Food- very little variety. The vegetables were most untasted vegetables I ever tasted, which were claimed to be from home farm. The SPA is far from modern facilities, situated in the basement, in small multiple rooms. All is very dated. There is No lobby where you can have a coffee. The only decent thing I could mention is the swimming pool. Regardless it was nothing special to elevate the hotel value to the price levels of a very good 4star hotel in Velingrad. Following was add in internet as available in the rooms, it was not available, or in very poor condition: - TV- very poor signal, it was freezing, very annoying, - internet- very poor, upload/download 4.46/0.84mbps, measured with ookland. - safe- no safe - mini bar- nil, damaged fridge, unplugged, when I plugged, it was smelling on burnt insulation. - mattress was smaller (1.4m) on large bed base. - laminated floor- in extremely poor condition. - room had 2 pillows, and you will get 2nd pillow if you ask for it and you will receive a pillow case if you ask additionally. The hotel generally looks very-very dated. High price for cheap value."
