At the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025, we decided to spend our stay at Hotel Korkyra in Vela Luka, on the island of Korčula. In our search for an attractive location to celebrate New Year’s, my wife discovered Hotel Korkyra. The hotel offered a three-night package, including New Year's Eve, for €704.00 online. We booked it and didn't regret our decision. The drive to Korčula along the Adriatic coast is incredibly scenic, and we enjoyed views of the new Pelješac Bridge and the Korčula coast. Hotel Korkyra is located right in the heart of Vela Luka, just 15 meters from the sea. The hotel is aesthetically pleasing, and although it typically closes for winter, it opened its doors for guests during the ten days surrounding the New Year. Our room was well-appointed, featuring two small balconies, a comfortable bed, a TV with only two or three channels, a desk with a chair, and a small fridge. The highlight of our accommodation was undoubtedly the all-glass shower located in the center of the room. While there are roll-down screens for privacy, who wouldn’t want to enjoy the unique experience of watching my wife take a shower every evening? The package we purchased included breakfast and dinner, along with a New Year’s celebration that featured live music. We can attest to the quality of the breakfasts and dinners—each dish was fresh, delicious, and served in generous portions. With about 60 guests, all couples, the feedback on food, service, and overall ambiance was overwhelmingly positive. The New Year's band kept the atmosphere lively and festive. The hotel also organized a walking tour of Vela Luka, led by a hotel employee who shared insights into the town's history and took us to its most important sites. During this tour, we visited a nearby konoba (a traditional Croatian tavern) where the owners treated us to homemade cookies, drinks, and their own olive oil, rakija (fruit brandy), wine, jam, and sweets. It was fascinating to learn that they have 500 olive trees and a vineyard. If you've ever gone olive picking (which we have), you would appreciate the monumental effort required to maintain and harvest 500 olive trees. On January 1st, the hotel organized a boat ride for all interested guests. The boat was parked right in front of the hotel, and the captain took us on a tour of the beautiful surroundings. The sea was crystal clear, the beaches were inviting, and the entire trip was very well received by everyone on board. On January 2nd, we enjoyed our last breakfast, which was once again rich and delightful, before checking out of the hotel. There’s a strong chance we will return in 12 months for another New Year’s celebration, despite a few minor complaints I had. The heating fan in the room was quite noisy, making it necessary to turn it off for a good night’s sleep. The TV had only two or three channels, and while the fridge was empty, we brought a few bottles of Jamnica and Cocta to solve that issue. Lastly, I thought the price

Response from Property: Dear Aldiana Pavečić, We understand your frustration regarding the recent issue with your reservation. However, we would like to clarify the situation based on our records. Your initial inquiry about room availability was made on Wednesday, and the coupon was purchased and sent to us the following Monday, over five days later. During peak season, room availability can change rapidly, and we always advise guests to confirm availability immediately after receiving a positive response to avoid any discrepancies. Unfortunately, without a confirmed booking, we cannot guarantee room availability for an extended period. It is important to exercise caution and confirm the booking before making further arrangements promptly, especially during high-demand periods. Additionally, we believe it is not fair to write a negative review about a hotel where you have not stayed. This can create a misleading impression for other potential guests. We strive to provide excellent service and regret any inconvenience this situation may have caused. We hope you understand that this incident does not reflect our usual standards and was a result of the high demand and the delay in confirming your reservation. Thank you for your understanding. Sincerely, Hotel Korkyra

This is the 3rd time of staying, so obviously we like the hotel and Vela Luka. However our experience this time was very negative. No welcome from the reception staff on arrival, and certainly no apology upfront about a wedding being hosted that evening. There was a live band playing until 4am, we had no sleep until then, only to be rudely awakened at 5.10 by drunken chanting by a number of the wedding party. No apology was offered the next day and no sign of any management taking any interest in the guests. Perhaps the money from the wedding overrode the comfort of your guests. On check out we weren’t asked about our stay, I wonder why? One member of staff, Miranda, was great and a great asset to the hotel.

I was staying here last week with my girlfriend.. When I wanted to change the room due to bad position, the staff was extremely rude, especially ms. Tatiana Grego, who insulted me and started rolling her eyes on my request for another room. I am very dissapointed and because of ms. Grego, I will tell everyone I know to avoid this hotel forever.

We had a lovel stay at the hotel with our three year old son. Everything was really good, the only remark is cleanliness of the room, it could be a bit better. Everything else was excellent. Hotel staff was really nice, specially girls from the bar. Location is excellent, everything is walking distance and if you don't plan to leave Vela luka, you don't need a car.

The hotel is well situated in Vela Luka. However the room was very basic for the price and had no view other than surrounding buildings and roof tops. We asked for double room but received a twin. The bed linen was just left folded on the bed rather than the beds being made up. Staff were not overly welcoming other than the housekeepers cleaning the room. We only received one room card and we were told on arrival that we would have to pay if we lost it. Not the best welcome and not something we have ever come across at any other hotel. The breakfast was very disappointing. There was nobody to greet us on arrival to explain what was available. We went down to breakfast an hour before end and much of the breakfast buffet food had gone and was slow to be replaced. The food quality was generally poor eg tinned fruit and veg, lack of choice. We believe you could order items but during our 3 night stay we were never offered a breakfast menu, in fact we had little contact with any staff at breakfast. We would not go back and not recommend others to visit.

Response from Property: Dear Janeto, Thank you for your review. We really appreciate the guests taking the time to leave their point of view. As you mentioned our hotel is located downtown and that is the reason why most of our rooms have a city view. When we book a double standard room you will have a basic standard room, guests that would like a more spacious and chic accommodation will have to spend a bit more and book a family or jr. suite. We have double standard rooms with double and twin beds. Guests that perform a last-minute reservation will be assigned to the unity we have available at that moment, and we believe that was what happened regarding the twin bed issue. Our breakfast menu carries a big variety of dishes, either displayed in our buffet, which is refilled till the end of breakfast time, as well as, guests can order a la card (all they can eat) from omelets, pancakes, waffles, french toast, sandwiches, etc. The waiters do not had breakfast menus for any of our guests since those menus are placed on every table under the plates as table mats, and that is how all other guests place their orders. So we can't quite understand the complaints regarding the poor breakfast option. Also, it is worth mentioning that every breakfast we had daily at least 4 waiters working on the dining floor at the guests' disposal. It is the policy of the hotel like in most hotels that if you lose your room card you have to pay for it, and our receptionists are you executing their duties when they inform the guest about it. Besides Our staff are very welcome to all guests and make sure their stay is pleasant. Kind regards Hotel Korkyra management team

Some of the rooms are offering balcony with the view of the pool in the courtyard - you better ask for towels at reception going there. Breakfast is excellent with extra choice of specials. Other offerings are rather standard for this category.

We stayed here for 2 nights in May. It was shoulder season and they were getting their terrace and bar ready. Our room was fabulous: spacious, breezy, super clean and quiet. We didn’t need to use AC as we just opened the windows facing the Harbour for natural air conditioning. The pool was clean with lots of seating options in the sun or shade. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was both a buffet of cold items and we could custom order hot items. What a nice hotel in a beautiful town. Hike to the cave when you visit :)

Response from Property: Dear Rose, We love to receive feedback like yours, it keeps us motivated to improve. For this season we are glad to open, next month, Hotel Korkyra pool bar where guests can enjoy the pool while having refreshing drinks with one waiter available to serve them outdoors all day. Our newly renovated restaurant is also ready to serve our guests to the righter standard level. The season seems to have started early this year and as you mentioned the weather is great, mostly sunny with warm and pleasant temperatures, perfect to wander around or simply enjoy the harbor view from one of our comfy rooms. Hiking to the big cave and enjoying the beautiful hidden beaches around town are guests' favorite to-do lists in Vela Luka, along with trying good quality local wine and cuisine. We really appreciate your kind review. It made our day :) Warm greetings from the Hotel team and we hope you will be our guest once again.

We spent the New Year period at Korkyra, we had a great stay including a special dinner. The rooms are super organized and clean and have an incredible view of the Marina of Vela Luka. The hotel reception is always friendly and helpful, and the breakfast is great, very well served with many options. We loved our stay.
Response from Property: Dear Guilherme, Thank you for your booking and review. We are glad you’ve enjoyed your stay with us and left with good memories. Our New Year's Eve is a traditional event in town and every year we put a lot of effort to make it an even more memorable experience for all. Feel free to come back any time. Many Thanks,

While the bar and the restaurant area lacked a bit If character, the rooms were lovely and comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. The hotel is right on the waterfront in Vela Luka, which is a beautiful small harbour town, which feels like it’s been developed a bit for plenty of tourists but they’ve not come yet. It gives the town a lovely relaxed and safe feel. And a special mention to Elena on the pool Gin and cocktail bar, who makes the best gins and looked after us superbly! 5 stars for her too! The pool area looks great but the seating could all do with some Cushions as wasn’t very comfortable, but they have great little shaded pods Where you can hide from the heat when it gets too hot. All very clean and well maintained

Super disappointed with a pseudo 4 star hotel in fact the star rating should be reviewed for certain establishments!!!! Here I am speaking directly to the one who responds to the comments in this case Mrs Ana Maricic since 2020 customers have been complaining about the bedding and what have you done since then? Nothing In fact, when I arrived on July 4, I was assigned a room on the 5th floor at the end of an endless corridor where the mattress was just worth throwing away. The wifi didn't work. The shower was leaking and my husband fixed it himself. by asking for a simple joint at reception The taps were also full of limescale After our complaint at reception we were able to change rooms with a slightly more acceptable mattress but still far from the standards of a 4 star! Then because there is still a continuation of the evening catering I had to complain to the waiter who was really not overwhelmed given the 4 people who were dining in the restaurant room. Is it normal to wait for dessert so that finally someone offers us water (paid) to drink? This is neither normal nor professional And continue to offer just 2 main courses for dinner and on the plate, wanting to make people believe in the Covid pandemic when no more people in July 2022 are wearing masks, it is not rather the lack of tourists currently in your hotel and for economic reasons you continue to offer two courses instead of the buffet? The only valid professional and friendly person you have to hire is the seasonal assigned to the pool bar Elena Those at reception especially Filip is frighteningly worthless When we return from the beach around 3 p.m. we ask for two towels for the pool he answers us there are none available they are dry it's just comical especially since the same towels are rough and need to be changed The air conditioning in room 205 did not work an intervention was requested but it It's up to you to check these details before assigning a room to a client who also pays a high price and yes 4 nights €630 plus €50 parking is expensive for all these problems in your hotel So here you go Madame Ana Maricic please review your copy because the list is long and I intentionally did not want to put photos only of the deserted swimming pool today which will make you think about the people currently in the hotel
