Property Description
Welcome to Paradise!
Union is often referred to as the “Gold Coast” of the Hood Canal—for good reason. It’s calm, warm waters, delicious oyster abundant beaches, and majestic sunsets over the Olympic Mountains make for a truly special experience. Whether you are looking to swim, fish, crab, shrimp (May), play on the water, or just relax, this place is for you!
Union is the only part of the canal that brings together calm, warm summer waters, majestic Olympic Mountain views, fishing, crabbing, and breathtaking, memorable sunsets! It is a truly special place that will help you unwind and relax. We have done our best to present a luxury experience for your enjoyment with our nicely appointed newly updated home!
GROUND FLOOR: A large luxury kitchen awaits! Custom maple cabinets, black quartz counters, custom imported stone backsplash, stainless KitchenAid appliances, warmer drawer, downdraft ventilation, and plenty of sea-themed dishes to host your extravagant party. Adjacent to the kitchen is a large glass kitchen table comfortably seats 8-10 to host your magnificent meals. A large living room with vaulted ceilings, exquisitely finished open glu-lam beams welcomes you with comfortable leather furniture and a high-efficiency wood-burning Fireplace Extraordinaire set in black quartz. There is also a Sonos sound system (requires Sonos app that you can download for free online) for your listening pleasure. Down the hallway you will find a custom tile bathroom with glass vessel sink and shower. Just past the bathroom there is a guest room with a comfortable Sealy Posturpedic queen bed and large double closet and LED TV. Walking through the spacious laundry room leads you to the TV room with 55” flat screen, DVD/Blueray, 5.1 surround sound, Microsoft Xbox, select movies, X-box games and board games. You can also watch movies on Amazon and Netflix. Just past the TV room is the “back cabin” that is a self-contained studio unit (queen hide-a-bed, fully-equipped kitchen, bathroom with shower, and loft with extra sleeping accommodations with twin mattresses -- ideal for kids).
UPPER FLOOR: Going up the staircase will lead you to the upstairs that includes a loft overlooking the living/dining room and another full en-suite guest room with queen bed, dresser, closet, and bathroom with double marble sink and bath/shower. On the other side of the landing is the stunning master bedroom! It boasts a vaulted ceiling, large king Sealy Posturepedic bed, sitting bench, large walk-in-closet, custom-tiled bathroom with glass sink and steam shower! There is also a beautiful private balcony overlooking the peaceful water and the majestic Olympic Mountains.
GAME ROOM: New in 2020, there is a 900SF game room above the detached garage that includes a 1/4 bathroom and a sleeping room. Games include air hockey, shuffleboard, 65" TV with Netflix/Amazon Video and a head-to-head pop a shot game located downstairs. The space has heating and air-conditioning and a wall of windows framing the majestic Olympic Mountains and mesmorizing canal.
OUTDOOR AMENITIES:
Deck: Approximately 2,000SF deck that goes up to the water’s edge with glass paneled railing. It is a terrific place to take in the salty air and breathtaking views.
Furniture: There is a full outdoor furniture set that includes a table for 8, outdoor conversation set and two chaise loungers.
Hot-Tub: Luxurious Sundance 7-person spa with LED lights, waterfall feature, and 40 jets. Sit and relax enjoying the beautiful mountains and water around you!
BBQ: Very large 6 burner stainless propane BBQ with side warmers will help feed those large parties.
Outdoor Fire Pit There is an outdoor wood burning fire pit just off the beach where you can sit around and toast marshmallows or just enjoy a relaxing evening.
Beach Access:There are concrete stairs that lead you right down to the beach from the house that is full of arguably some of the best oysters and clams in the world! It is a private beach so you are welcome to enjoy all the oysters and clams you want (during your stay), just please leave the shells behind on the beach when you are done (this facilitates the “reseeding” and spawn of the oysters).
Dock: House has a deep water dock with moorage for boats up to 50’ and 50 amp power. Our dock is one of the few deep-water 135’ docks in Union (or Hood Canal in general) that is not associated with a resort/marina. Most residential docks in the area are grounded (or in extremely shallow water) at low tide. The south end of the canal from Union to Belfair (although the eastern end near Belfair is very, very shallow and mostly unswimmable at low tide) are typically the only place you find residential docks because of the calm, tranquil waters.
Toys: There are two double kayaks, two stand-up paddleboards (SUPs), an aluminum row boat, inflatable trampoline and slide (in the water seasonally—about June through end of September and shared with our other house next door when our family is in town), and life jackets.
OTHER FEATURES: The home has WiFi throughout and high-end whole-house water filtration (almost all the homes in the area are on well service so a good filtration system is recommended, although many homes do not). There are plenty of linens for guests and dedicated spa towels for guests to use. A pack-n-play is available for young children’s sleeping comfort, so you don’t need to haul one with you. We also have two extra luxurious inflatable EZ Beds (one full and one twin) that can be available, if needed. (Please inquire ahead of time if interested). Due to the proximity to the Skokomish River, the fishing can be spectacular right off the dock. During specific runs, it is not uncommon to see dozens of boats trolling right near the dock parallel to the shoreline. You can fish off the dock, but please remember you need the appropriate licenses through Fish and Wildlife for crabbing, shrimping or fishing—even if off the dock.
NEARBY ATTRACTIONS: Union Attractions. The home is a few short minutes to the award-winning Alderbrook Resort & Spa, Alderbrook/Union Marina (with boat launch), Alderbrook golf course, Robin Hood Resort, and several interesting and unique boutique shops, coffee shops, and, of course, the Union Country Store where you can enjoy a scoop of magnificent Olympic Mountain Ice Cream! While an easy drive to some of these places, it is a more enjoyable trip to paddle via provided kayaks, SUPs, or paddling/cruising in the aluminum row boat. Alderbrook and the Marina (also affiliated with Alderbrook) have places to tie up or pull out on the beach. There is live music most nights throughout the town.
HIKING. There are several great hikes in the general vicinity. The closest hike would be at Twanoh State Park and the trail takes you along a stream (full of salmon in the late fall) and zig zags you up the mountain and back down through a through a heavily treed forest. Along the 101 and Skokomish River Road there are several other magnificent hikes--some through forests and many along rivers or lakes. There are hikes for all skill levels and ages.
NEAR UNION. Hoodsport is a short drive (or boat ride from our dock—they have a marina where you can tie up). While small, the town boats several interesting restaurants, a grocery store, several boutiques, and even some wine tasting rooms. Hama Hama Oyster Saloon is relatively short drive away (north of Hoodsport) and is a great place to experience oysters. Their outdoor eating area and magnificent oyster presentation (cooked or raw, or both) should not be missed. They also have a gift shop where you can get everything from oysters, dipping sauces (AMAZING), to smoked salmon to take home. The Olympic National Park is an outdoor paradise with endless possibilities to explore. Farther north on the 101 will take you to the entrance of the Olympic National Park which also offers several amazing hikes (i.e. Staircase).

Everything about the place. From host yo amenities. Very nice view, kind of cold to go outside but we luck out with nice weather for this time of the year. I thank David for his flexibility and details on the instructions for us to get there safe and enjoy our family reunion. Our family is Vietnamese and we use chopsticks for eating which one thing that’s not available at the place. If we are going out there next time we’ll bring chopsticks to add to the utensils drawer. Thank you for everything.

We had a wonderful stay at this very well-appointed and spacious home! The host gave very detailed instructions with easy check-in. This house and location were perfect for our family. We enjoyed all the activities the house had to offer. We cooked, explored, hiked, and relaxed! Wildlife sightings every day. It was everything we had hoped for and more. We would not hesitate to return!

Wonderful Vacation House For Teens and Tweens
We up to 12 people in this roomy home on Hood Canal. The water toys available the game room gave them and the adults our own space. Kids learned to kayak and stand up board in the calm waters. The TV room fit all of us of Jackbox TV games. Thank you for allowing us to use your beautiful home. I hope to be back next year.

Family vacation
We had a great stay The house had everything we needed and enough room for all 7 of us to be comfortable. The dock was really nice to have so we could easily hop on and off our boat daily. We enjoyed oysters and clams right from the beach!
The location was great and David, the host could not have been nicer and easy to communicate with.
