Elite Hotel Mimer

We enjoyed a three night stay in the Mimer Elite, well-located in central Umeå and beside the terminus of the airport bus. The hotel is a conversion of a large late 19c high school and the architecture is impressive. Our room and bathroom were spacious and well-equipped, with rather minimal décor. Everything worked. Breakfast is a well-stocked self-service offering but it finishes rather early at 9 am on weekdays. All the staff we met were pleasant and helpful (we didn’t test them much) Overall, a straightforward four star without frills.

Great hotel, lovely location near river, quiet town with plenty of shops, bars etc. Friendly staff, good restaurant, plenty of parking, good value. Need to book as gets busy, well worth a visit. Good location to visit north parts of sweden.

After admiring the beautiful building, walking up the red carpeted steps immediately had me feeling this was going to be a memorable stay and it most certainly lived up to expectations. We were early for check-in and thought we would ask if we could drop off our suitcases however we were told the room was ready by a charming person on Reception. Our room was on the fourth floor and was characterful, impeccably clean and comfortable. Some tea and coffee making facilities were available and there were toiletries in the bathroom. The bed was very comfortable with crisp, cool linens and sleep was incredibly relaxing. The Breakfast the next morning was a feast for the eyes and taste buds. There were many varieties of cheeses, smoked salmon, ham, eggs , bacon, beans, salads, overnight oats, cereals, dried fruits, preserves, pastries and a waffle maker. The waffles were crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle - delish! Great coffee, a choice of teas and refreshing fruit juices too. After breakfasting for 5 mornings there were still many variations of breakfast I could still have eaten. We ate one night in the hotel restaurant and both chose the burger. It was one of the best burgers I have ever tasted! Wine and local beer was good. Chatting with our taxi drivers, residents of Umea and staff, it seems everyone is proud of the hotel that was originally a school and rightly so - it's one of the most amazing places I have stayed. Every person who worked at the hotel was outstanding, a delight, always charming, accomplished in their roles, knowledgeable and helpful. They were all a credit to Hotel Elite Mimer. We had the most marvellous stay during our visit to attend WRC Sweden. Heartfelt thanks to all at the hotel and I hope that you all experience such a wonderful trip at some time.

Asked for a room in a quiet location and they put us on the side of the bus terminal which is next door and a building site. Left in a hurry and forgot our iPhone charger plugged next to the bed. They said they couldn’t find it but know it was definitely left there. Breakfast was good. The crepes were chewy and poor but they had a waffle maker which made up for it as you could make your own fresh waffles Hotel is in a good location so positives if they can manage the negatives
