This resort is SLIPPERY! I witnessed people slipping on the tile in the lobby and on the walkways, and the concrete by the pool area multiple times a day. I myself slipped on a small set of stairs in the main pool area and injured myself severely enough I had to go to the hospital. The buffet is full of wildlife - I saw a man get pooped on by a bird while eating his meal. Since the buffet is fully enclosed, I don't know why there are so many birds inside! The food was also a disappointment at the buffet. The A La Carte restaurants were very good. Our favourites were the Italian and the Brazilian. The bathtub in my kids' room was not clean upon arrival. Even though I had requested MONTHS IN ADVANCE to have a room with 2 beds for my 22 year old daughter to share with my 25 year old son, they gave them a room with 1 king size bed and said that was what I requested. They flat out lied to me because my travel agent confirmed that she had sent in the request properly. My son ended up sleeping on the couch. A family that I spoke to said they had booked a crib for their 10 month old baby but the resort was "all out" so the baby had to sleep in bed with the parents (not their ideal situation).

We had a mixed experience at Grand Bahia Principe. On the positive side, the resort is beautiful, and the staff were very dedicated and friendly. Unfortunately, we faced significant issues, including our daughters contracting hand, foot, and mouth disease, likely due to cleanliness concerns. We also had problems with our room door and the safe, and found essential items like swim diapers to be overpriced. In summary, while the resort has potential, there are important areas that need improvement, particularly regarding health and safety.

As a hotel complex spanning many kilometers, WOW! Simply put one of the nicest, friendliest, cleanest complexes I have ever stayed at. Staff members created a welcoming, helpful and comfortable atmosphere. Room we picked was the twin room, brilliant. Spacious, clean and over looked a well maintained garden area, block 7. Hotel blocks are often loud, but pleasantly surprised at how quiet it was and free from door bangs and flushing noises. Housekeeping staff are polite and courteous, and the coffee in the rooms is some of the best i've had. Expeditions teams and associated companies were faultless, managed to get 2 paid trips and a freebie, cenotes and chichen itza, swimming with turtles and another cenote, then a catamaran cruise with reef swimming. Personally not a fan of sailing, but what a magical experience. Hosts on the trips we're amazing and a credit to the high standards of the hotel and experiences available. The grill house, what an experience, foodies heaven. Tapenyaki bar, never been before, highly recommended, amazing show and food to die for! Pools always clean, entertainment through out the day was fantastic. Beach seaweed was a tiny issue, but the volunteers clearing it were doing a brilliant job and keeping on top of it. Being able to see baby turtles in natural habitat, and the care taken by the clean up crews, beach lifeguards and ecologists is eye opening and educational. The mayan natives around some of the tours are amazing when treated with dignity and respect. We'd heard horror stories of how tourists had treated some like spectacles, demanding access to their homes to see how they lived and snapping cameras in their faces and not respecting the local customs, such a shame as their customs are an honour to be witness to.

We were a multi-generational trip of 10, with 5 kids and 5 adults between 5 and 64 years old. We had (3) 2 bedroom units in building 22. Our building overlooked a pool and had great ocean views from the second floor. It was very convenient to the beach, kids water park and the food truck but quite a trek to the buffet. The food truck was more than adequate for quick bite and included all the typical beach foods. The service was slow and it would be more efficient if they had premade food in quantity during the busy times Service everywhere was great. Polite and hard working employees that made our vacation so memorable The 2 bedroom units were a little weird. The second bedroom was actually a folding sofa. So if you have kids that use the sofa bed there is really no lounge area. Weirdly, the room would be plenty big enough for a bed AND sofa The flooring and decking everywhere is crazy slippery and we saw a lot of falls There were always fresh beach towels and we appreciated that few people reserved chairs and left them empty all day. We always found chairs at the pool and at the beach Do NOT expect to EVER take out a catamaran. They flat out told us they never go out (felt like it’s false advertising to say they let you use them but they don’t. Ever). The water sports shed gave us all the “we don’t want to deal with you” vibe. The grounds were beautiful and very well kept. The smaller pool could use a little love regarding grout

We had a fantastic stay! The hotel itself was beautiful, with a lovely superior room that was comfortable and spotless. The grounds were immaculate, and everything felt very well looked after. The staff were truly amazing – so friendly and helpful throughout our stay – and the food was fantastic. We especially loved dining at Don Pablo and the Italian restaurant, both of which were highlights of our holiday. For my daughter, tennis was the absolute highlight! A massive thank you to Daniel, the fantastic coach, for making her experience so enjoyable. Overall, we couldn’t have asked for a better holiday. Highly recommended and we can’t wait to return!
