I had an excellent experience. My room was immaculent, and the trolley is right on time! Food was also very good and a nice variety on the buffet.

I went on this trip with my daughter who’s been here 3 times and can’t wait to go back. Top notch service, beautiful rooms, fantastic restaurants, poolside entertainment daily and stunning beach. Staying at Akumal allows full use of all the resorts… Coba, S’ian Kaan and Tulum. The grounds were manicured and the facilities were always being cleaned. It is about an hour and 10 mins from the airport but it was worth it.

My wife sister & I just returned from a 1-week trip, from August 30, 2025 to September 6, 2025, to the Bahia Principe Luxury Akumal Resort. We have been to several all-inclusive resorts in Riviera Maya, MX (Iberostar, Grand Palladium & Barcelo Maya), Jamaica (Sandals) & Punta Cana (Iberostar & Bahia Principe) & this one did not disappoint! Overall, we all had an excellent experience from start to finish! We were very lucky with weather with it being sunny and hot everyday with no rain! We were a little concerned with weather since it is in their rainy season. Now for the pros in cons. PROS: The entire facility & sister resorts were very well maintained & super clean. We stayed in the adults only section by the infinity pool in building 83. We were able to pre-check-in using their app prior to arriving at the resort so it made the check-in process very streamlined & seamless. We arrived around 2:30pm & our rooms were ready by 3pm! Rooms were well appointed & modern. Beds & couch were very comfortable. Air conditioning & hot water worked the best of anywhere I have stayed. Room service was prompt & available 24/7. Minifridge was stocked with 2-3 beers, soft drinks, water & 4-small bottles of liquor. Room came with a complimentary small bottle of tequila as well. Maid service was very good & responded well to special requests. The resorts internal transportation was great! You never had to wait long to catch a tram to the lobby or to another resort. The trams ran from around 7am - 2am so no issues with staying out late. The staff was constantly cleaning common areas, bathrooms & the pool areas. Definitely one of the cleanest resorts we have stayed at. Buffet food was good & had a good variety. The food was fresh, the eating areas well maintained & no issues with insects. Our favorite a la carte restaurant, out of the four we were able to book, was the Japanese restaurant at the Akumal. The Italian restaurant was very good as well. The Ku'uk was probably my least favorite. We tipped our pool service waitress $5 USD each morning & received excellent service everyday with drinks & cups of ice to refill our Yeti's delivered regularly without having to ask. Pool & beach bars were plentiful & provided good service. We really liked the beach bars with the swings! Concierges were very helpful & friendly. We were asked several times to do a 90-minute presentation for the Bahia Principe Privilege Club, but they were not too pushy. CONS/COMMENTS: Some of the cons were there was a lot of seaweed on the beach, in particular by the infinity pool when we first arrived. When you go to the end to look over edge to the beach & ocean it was very smelly. In their defense I know this is Mother Nature's fault & their staff worked hard to clean up sections so you could use the beach & go in the ocean by the main pool. Probably one of our biggest issues was with the availability to get reservations at the a la carte restaurants. We found out that you are able to

⸻ This was my sixth stay at this wonderful resort, and while it has evolved over the years—with some changes for the better and a few of the little touches no longer there—it still remains a very special place. The beach is absolutely stunning: clear, warm waters teeming with wildlife, perfect for relaxing or exploring. I stayed in room 6626, a beachfront villa that I personally think is the best block on the property. It’s one of the older-style villas, a little dated in places, but still charming and very comfortable. The buffet food is excellent, offering a wide variety of choices and a beautiful selection of fresh fruits—there truly is something for everyone. Drinks are premium at Akumal, though not at Hacienda, Tulum, or Cobá, which is worth keeping in mind. The staff are outstanding, always warm and welcoming. A special mention to Daisy, who went above and beyond! I absolutely adore this resort and always look forward to returning. Leaving is the hardest part—it already feels like home away from home.

Just returned from a 2 week all inclusive holiday, we have had the most amazing time. Transfer time from Cancun airport approx 1.5 hours with Tui transfer. Hotel very clean. Rooms spacious although some rooms are being renovated at present this did not effect our stay, we had junior suit room for 2 adults and 1 child. Our bed was massive so comfortable many pillows AC in room, cleaned daily with shower gel, shampoo and conditioner available, plenty of wardrobe and drawer space, TV balcony with ocean view beautiful Pools as a luxury stay you can use any of the 4 sister hotels amenities 1 is adults only we didn't use this one but did visit others we found Akhmal was the quietist due to the Renovations, loungers available even after 9am, pools cleaned every morning, towels available, pool and beach bar amazing staff amazing. Ensure you pop in to each of the hotels and view their entertainment schedules we did this to mix things up. Foam party at Tullum on a Sunday Food One of the best buffets I have ever been too food was delicious staff amazing we did 2 al la carts 1 italian and the Brazilian. Brazilian not to be missed. We enjoyed the buffet that much we cancelled the rest of our a la carte reservations. Check in via the Bahia app 10 days before and book your restaurants reservations. Used room service once good service again menu on the app just allow 45 mins for it to arrive. Beach Although there is seaweed the staff are there from 630am clearing this away they work very hard, again didn't effect us were still able to snorkel and swim, beautiful beach. There is a Facebook page with lots of tips and info for travelling we had loads of tips off this. The Mexican fiesta and the origen show is well worth it the fiesta being my favourite. You can book trips, shows, water sports and coco bongo direct at the hotel

Had a wonderful time at Akumal and dined at Coba and Tulum for A La Carte...all the ones we went to were exemplary. Although rain was forecast on most days, we had none whatsoever, only blue skies and sunshine. There were 3 eveni as where there were electric storms over the sea, which were amazing to watch. Hotel staff were friendly and thorough, from Bell Boys to Cleaners, Gardeners, Consierge Staff, Bar staff and trolley staff...etc...Most staff spoke good English or at the very least some English. Room was big with a balcony overlooking the sea and Adult only pool and was clean. I would advise taking some humidity bags to hang I the wardrobe. I used 3 in the 2 weeks we were there. For smokers or vapers, there were designated smoking areas outside the Hotel and various other areas around the pool. Cigarettes and cigars were available to buy in the coffee shop or at the Hacienda market which also sold vapes. Crisps and sweets cost a lot at the hotel but they are cheaper at the Hacienda specifically cheapest from the Pharmacy at the Hacienda. Rash tops only seem to be available from the Hacienda, small and large sizes....dont forget to barter. It is worth going on a trip to the caves and/or turtles. Overall, we had the best time. Tips to staff definitely pay off.

Absolutely stunning, quiet and wonderful staff. Arrived from UK, booked with TUI. The airport experience and trip to resort was better than expected. Queues for checks for Vapes and imported tobacco but it moves fairly quickly. Its about and 1.5 transfer to resort on a fully ac bus so it was fine. Smooth checking we pre checked in via app, which is a must to get and set up prior to arrival to ensure you get your ala carte bookings. TUI advised us of works at hotel and they barely disturb you and concentrated to near the lobby. We got offered a free upgraded room which was stunning, restocked fridge daily and room service on demand. Best ala carte in our opinion was the Indian, beautiful decor and food, although we enjoyed most. We were disappointed with the Dolce Vita but it is personal choice. No bed wars or unruly behaviour, although we did experience some very drunk guests in Tulum and Coba, when visiting during the day which was a shame. This us not the hotels issue its the people visiting. Definitely glad we paid more to stay in the Luxury Akumul rather than the other hotels in the resort. If you are a beach lover then it is worth mentioning that there is a large amount of seaweed/grass which staff try to manage but it is in vain. The sea isn't the best, rocky and not the prettiest beach I've been to although it did offer a nice sea breeze which was often needed to escape the heat around the pool areas. Would come back in a heartbeat and highly recommend.

We stayed at the “Luxury Akumal” end of June/July. My advise to you is to get the renovated rooms, I’m not picky and thought room would be for sleeping only cause we had many activities planned, but the ”junior suite superior” was really disappointing, remote control broken, tv not working for a day, loose outlets plugs just fell out of them, smelly old pillows, dark room at night just a couple of old lamps with dim light bulbs. Didn’t feel luxury at all. We stayed 8 days, we mentioned we were disappointed with the room when we were asked how was our stay, by our 6th day they reached out and offered to change rooms to a renovated one, what a difference! Wish we were staying there from day one, but we could only enjoyed it for 2 nights. They sent us champagne and chocolate covered strawberries the night before we left. Still, I’m concerned about the resort thinking is Okay for their guest to stay in run down condition rooms that are not up to standard. This was our friend’s 3rd time coming back to the hotel and they were pretty disappointed of the condition of the rooms also. Hotel staff is great, the Akumal buffet was the best, we went to 5 a la carte dinners and Kuuk was excellent! Understand Summer is hot in Mexico but the AC didn’t really work in some of the restaurants and the auditorium, would help installing some ceiling fans in some open areas. We went to the breakfast buffet in Sian Ka’an and the AC was set to 28 degrees celcius (82-83 F). Anyway, we had a great time cause we were able to spend time with our friends but we are not coming back to this resort or in Summer time to Mexico
