"I’m deeply disappointed with my experience with Sandbox Apartments in Tugun, Queensland. After waiting 14 business days for my deposit to be returned, as instructed by Andre, I followed up as any customer would. The website (Google) clearly showed that the apartments were open (in green), so I called at 6:30 AM. When the call started diverting, I assumed it was too early and hung up, thinking nothing of it. To my surprise, I received a call back from the clerk's boss, who was irritated and downright rude. He was clearly angry that I had woken him up, and his condescending tone made me feel as though I was the one at fault for following up on a service I was owed. I explained that I only called because their website listed the apartments as open, and the call was diverting, which typically indicates availability. Rather than understanding my situation, Jason doubled on his frustration, making me feel like my call was an inconvenience rather than a legitimate inquiry. What’s most upsetting is the lack of professionalism and the complete disregard for basic customer service. I felt disrespected and dismissed for trying to resolve an issue that should have been handled weeks ago. This kind of treatment is unacceptable in any business, especially one that deals directly with customers and their money. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend Sandbox Apartments to anyone. This experience has left me with a sour impression of the company, and I will not be returning. It's disheartening to see that such a lack of care and respect for customers exists. Updated reply from the business: The transaction was returned and yes is a pre authorisation, about the phone call it wasn’t me but anyway you did what you had to do, with reviews and complains so I won’t expect anything less than another complain, by the way you’ve stayed here so you know there’s no one at reception at 6.30 am, so don’t say I didn’t know it wasnt open. About your escalation do what you have to do, but it probably will be arriving soon if it didn’t already. It has been escalated to the bank as no resolution was found, and despite their reply, they have not returned my deposit."
Golden Riviera Absolute Beachfront Resort ★★★
"We just had a 7 night stay at Golden Riverina. The location is great being close to the beach and shops/ cafes. For the price, the resort is very tired. There is a lot of grout missing in exterior tiles and a lot are chipped being unsafe especially around the pool area. The key swiping gets frustrating. Don’t leave your room without your key or you can get locked out. It would be nice to be able to freely move around the resort once you’ve checked in. For a 7 night stay please provide more dish washing liquid etc. I know you can get it from IGA, but surely for the price of the stay, enough dishwashing liquid could be provided. Be prepared for stairs. We were on the 6th floor from the carpark with no lift for luggage. No aircon in the main bedroom. There was a lady manning the pool gate and bubbles of the spa. She was very friendly but off putting to our children. She picked up on their names and was telling them what to do. Made them confused and uncomfortable. I probably wouldn’t stay again unless we got a ground floor room at an off peak time."

"We had such a fantastic stay at @beachdays in Tugun. It’s listed as one of the refurbished apartments at Crystal Beachfront Resort, and you can really see the difference – everything feels fresh, modern, and beautifully done. The style is relaxed coastal luxury, with thoughtful touches that made it feel special but still comfortable. The location is unbeatable. You’re right on the beachfront – we loved waking up to the sound of the ocean, walking straight out for a swim, and finishing the day with a glass of wine on the balcony watching the waves. Tugun itself has a lovely laid-back vibe, with plenty of cafés and restaurants nearby, and it was easy to get to Burleigh or Coolangatta when we wanted a change of pace. The apartment had everything we needed – super comfortable beds, a well-equipped kitchen, and plenty of space to unwind. It felt more like staying in a stylish coastal retreat than a typical holiday rental. We honestly didn’t want to leave and will definitely be coming back to @beachdays."

"We were quoted for a family holiday and secured booking with a deposit. Days later we were told it was now another $1600 more as they mucked up. Illegal. They would not budge then refunded us $150 less. Terrible experience and stress for no holiday."

"Nice beach front apartments run by a lovely couple Ann and Allan. They gave us a room upgrade. Good wifi. Well equipped kitchen. Super pool to chill with BBQ in the lawns. About 10 minutes walk to tugun shops and eateries. Very close to GC airport. Will revisit. 9/10"
