Service is great. The hotel is fine. Elevators- tiny. Smell - not so good. Opened the room door. Carpet???? Yuck! Green, weird carpet. Had to go to the store to buy socks. Bed looks comfy enough, but not stepping foot on that carpet without socks. Not what I expected from a trusted Marriott brand.

Taking son on college trip to see UA. The hotel was great and comfortable, and the hotel gym was great as well. I would recommend this place except... the hotel is on a road called Speedway. I would say that on 10-20 separate occasions I was awakened by the RRRRRRRRRRRRooooommmm of motercycles and cars doing their thing on that road. Maybe it was a Saturday thing, but I was on the top floor and could hear the revving quite clearly and I am usually a sound sleeper.

Where do I start with this hotel, I usually do not write reviews but this hotel definitely earned it. The only reason I could see people would want to stay here is that it is close to the University of Arizona. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else, this place is a ripoff and not worth your money. For starters, they charge $15 per day for parking. Why??? For the privilege of staying at the hotel I guess. Security, non-existent. (Will get back to security later). For a Marriot hotel, this place is disgrace. The so called overpriced breakfast options, this food was beyond terrible. You would have better options at a 7-11 and it would be edible. Everything from soda ($3.00) to a Candy Bar ($7.00) was to rip you off even further. For families of college students at the University, I plead with you to stay somewhere else. As for security, there was none. Anyone and I mean anyone could walk in the elevator through the garage and enter the hotel at any hour of the day. Front entrance did not use because access to that is from a very busy street. The reviews of that street being busy are most accurate. If your room is not on the south side, you will hear that noise constantly. The hotel room floors and elevators have a terrible odor to them, you will notice this right away. The lighting on our floor had coverings missing and the lights were incredibly bright. The room design(s) are designed very poorly. The showers have no shelves so everything you bring must go on the shower floor. Yuck! Finding the light switch for the bathroom, well that is like a treasure hunt, god luck. I could go on and on. This hotel alone convinced me not to book a Marriot Hotel in the near future. This was such a bad experience from hotels of today who compete for business. I can't believe for a minute why this hotel is ranked #2. I have been all over the world and we traveled to Tucson for a funeral. This hotel was suggested by others and I trusted that without doing my homework. Never again will I ever set foot in this hotel and recommend to others not to stay here. Like I said, do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else in Tucson. I get that it is close to the University but it is not worth your patronage.

Not what I expected
The noise is outrageous. Very loud due to the street. Only one main switch for all the lights. AC control didn’t work to turn the temperatures up or down.

Lobby was nice, but room was dirty, especially the carpet. Also, the headboard and bathroom fixtures showed wear. I also don’t like how dark it is inside the elevators. I’ve stayed here a few times before and it’s gotten worse, so I’m not sure I’ll stay here again.

The shower in our room had hair it. The room had terrible lighting including the bathroom and shower with black tile. This made it hard to see just how dirty it was. The blinds in our room were broken and could not be closed so we called and a woman came and said she could not fix that and maintenance wasn’t there on the weekend so she would contact the manager and let us know. We were never contacted and nobody fixed it in our 3 nights there so we had to be creative to cover the window. Overall for the price, could’ve been better. We would not stay here again.

Overall is a good hotel, not worth the price but good. They charge extra for parking. The coffee maker and coffee in the room are terrible.
