We called at the Tredegar Arms for a light lunch, coffee and catch up. As usual we were greeted warmly by the lovely Michelle who epitomises good service and true hospitality. Michelle pulled the chair out for me anticipated my needs by pulling out the chair next to me for my walking sticks and handbag and promptly brought us the menu`s. Whilst the lunch menu is really limited for a vegetarian the food arrived piping hot and was served with a smile. I had the garlic mushrooms with garlic bread minus the cheese topping and a soya milk latte. My friend had a jacket potato with cheese and beans and a side salad. We were not rushed and were checked on regularly. It was so relaxed and comfortable we stayed for another coffee.

The staff were lovely and the room itself was perfect for what I needed, very clean and comfortable and ensuit good size for someone on their own. However, I feel there should be a warning about the clock tower, it chimes every hour on the hour and my room was at the front. I got in from a party at 1:40am and by the time the 6 chimes went off at 6am I gave up and decided to get up and just head for home as I’ve not had a full hour unbroken sleep - this isn’t the hotels fault but something you should be aware of and prepare for (I would usually take ear plugs with me but completely forgot on this occasion).

We visited today as a party of 19 for a family birthday meal and the food was spot on as far as quality goes. We had sent a preorder in as there was so many of us. However, that being said the service was extremely poor. We waited over an hour for food to be brought out, even then peope were finishing meals as others were starting. The butchers blocks come out and had no sauces, we was waiting over 7 minutes for sauces to be brought out and even that was done in a very slow time frame. We had meatballs and lasange ordered with sides of garlic bread and the meals come out and garlic bread over 40 minutes later. We also had 5 childrens meals with a 4 year old waiting over an hour and a half for a meal. There was no checks from the staff on how the food was or if we needed anything. We had to clear the tables of glasses also and that wouldnt have been an issue if the venue is busy but the staff were sat on their phones. The only question we was asked was if we wanted to order desserts. When going to pay they did take one kids meal off the bill as well as the 3 lots of garlic bread. Meanwhile there was over £250/£300 spent on food and thats without all the drinks that were bought The actual venue is beautiful and it comes with a lovely stocked bar and atmosphere. This place could really be a big hit in the valleys of the service was at the same standard as food they serve.

Clean, comfortable, convenient, friendly, great value and good food. This is an ideal stopover whilst walking in the Brecon Beacons. We had three rooms and all very nice. Breakfast was great in the morning before setting off. We will definitely stay again in the future next time we are walking in the area.

Visited here in early January on a Saturday evening. No parking at the building but literally just down the street. Lovely warm welcome and an extremely well stocked bar with a large variety of gins, vodkas, lager and cider. The restaurant area is small but decor is nice and modern. Lovely menu on offer and the food was delicious. Service was prompt and staff were courteous and professional. Really enjoyed this visit and will definitely return again soon.

Went ere for Sunday lunch. Partner and I had two courses (£20) and it was nice (gravy a wee bit cold and semi-congealed when it arrived after the food). My son only wanted a bowl of soup as he was not feeling grat so we ordered him soup and I did say to the waitress that one course was £15 and she said the soup wouldn't be charged at £15 for a single bowl. When soup arrived, my son found a plastic substance in the bowl and didn't finish it. When the staff came to clear plates, I told her and she just say sorry (nothig more wa said/done). I would have expected the chef/manager to come out and talk to us... When the bill came, it was wrong as they wanted to charge £15 for a bowl of soup (with plastic in it) that wasn't even finished. When i pointed this out, the bill was changed. When we paid, no please/thank yous/apols for plastic on your food. Also, not the TA's fault, but when we were eating, some folk in the pub area had clearly been smoking 'something' outside and the place was full of the smell of it. Staff did close the doot between the resaurant and the pub, so it must have neem noticed, but because staff had to come and go, the smell ingered! We have been to the TA soooo many times without fault, but today was awful!

For a family event, stayed at the TA for the first time. Couldn’t believe how much it has changed over the years! Lovely welcoming staff. Comfortable bed and pillows. Super clean attractive rooms. Tea/coffee/biscuits. All you need in the bathroom. Perfect shower. Easy to use and control . Interesting breakfast selection. Well cooked and well presented. Will try the restaurant lunch/dinner next time but by all accounts very enjoyable. Would be great if the restaurant was open Sunday evenings or bar snacks offered
