We stayed here while visiting our granddaughter, the room was ok, the only issue was the two single beds,,the mattresses were lumpy very very uncomfortable & you could feel the springs, we were looking forward to having a meal here but were told they didn’t have a chef. We only had 2 hours sleep, we were in room 4. We won’t be staying again.

We had a shower that was scalding hot and flooded every time you used it . We told the bar staff to be told "everything is breaking here but will pass it on " . Nothing was done or even looked at. We were left with water in the kettle, only 3 quarters of a toilet roll so that we had to pick up our own. We left a sign on door saying please make up room and no one came to do it. We were given a key to get in and out of the hotel but barely saw any staff. When we ventured in for a drink they were all sat in the back room having a girly chat and we were made to feel like we were interrupting them and putting them out. On the Sunday we were going to go for a drink about 6pm and it looked all shut up so we stayed in our room. It was still comfortable and value for money considering it's a small town and not the nicest area but would book elsewhere if we come back. It's worth staying a little farther out. General cleaning should be looked at it seems surface cleaned and cobwebs in the room and extreme dust on the bed is a simple thing that shouldn't be overlooked especially when it can make asthma sufferers ill. Such a shame considering how nice it looked from the pictures . Bedding not sure if it was clean or dirty dumped in the hallway and rubbish left outside rooms. Also constant stomping above the rooms. BTW the shower was so scalding it set the smoke alarm off twice! Not that anyone came to check if there was a fire

The rooms were spacious, pleasant and good value. Unfortunately, I am still in dispute over having been charged twice and unable to contact anyone at the hotel about it. There's never a manager there; they just take a message and never get back. Poor management, which is a shame for a decent place. I wouldn't advise risking it.

The Cambrian Inn should decide wether they are a club, pub, bar, or hotel. We booked to stay from Saturday to Wednesday as a stop over to explore south wales before heading up north for a week, but we left on Monday morning… Good base for exploring the national park if you if you feel awake enough after the noisy nights. The area has very little else to offer and generally felt unsafe. Parking was non-existent unless you want to park on the high street and risk a ticket as ‘the warden never comes anyway’ (luckily the times we needed to park out the front it was outside of the restrictions which are no parking Monday to Saturday 8am - 6pm) Music on Saturday night was unbearable with club goers outside our door until 1am rendering us unable to sleep. We went for a drink downstairs on the Sunday evening which was nice but there was no wine and unnecessarily loud drill music playing throughout. This only got louder as we could still then hear the music in the room Sunday night until around 10pm but admittedly it was then turned off. I would avoid this place if you want a relaxing experience of wales. Tredegar is not the heaven that wales usually is for us. We didn’t speak to anyone as we left as the doors downstairs were locked and unsurprisingly no one seemed to be awake after we saw staff drinking and god knows what else on Sunday evening. There are much nicer places to stay than the Cambrian inn.

I have waited a week to write this review as I wanted to be fair and give both The Cambrian and ********** a chance for the explanation they both promised. As both have failed to do this I am now writing the review with the facts I have at hand. I made a booking for this place on 10/1/2023 via ********** using the pay at property option. We were travelling for a dance comp and they sometimes get cancelled so we wanted flexibility. We received several confirmation emails, including one a few days before we travelled. We made the long journey to Wales from our home and arrived there (with our child) at around 5pm in the evening. The hotel advertises car parking, we could not immediately see this so parked on the main street as the restricted parking allowed for parking at that time of night. We were a bit nervous about leaving the car there as it wasn't the nicest of areas. This was compounded as we walked towards the Cambrian and someone came out the door shouting and swearing at someone inside. When we got in, we were told we had no booking and that they had just booked out the room we had booked to someone else. I showed them all the emails and confirmation records and asked what could we do. They were pretty disinterested but did offer to call their sister hotel once we had said again but what can we do. It was a very half hearted gesture and they seemed completely unconcerned about a young child being left with nowhere to stay. I asked who I needed to speak to regarding this and was told that that person was the manager and she was telling me there was no booking. She took my details and promised me she would speak to ********** to find out what had happened. She then pretty much turned us away with no suggestions of where we might look for alternative accomodation in an area we did not know. We were not her problem. In a panic, with it getting later we depserately dat in out car outside trying to find somewhere to stay this last minute on a Sat night. We were so blessed in finding a room at the Premier Inn at Ebbw Vale, they were the complete antithesis of The Cambrian, kind welcoming and managed to calm our panic and remove the stress we were feeling (I would absolutely recommend them, they felt a lot safer area wise and parking too). We spoke to ********** straight away and they rang the Cambrian, only to be told there was no manager there so no explanation could be given. This is what has been said when we have since tried to follow up the complaint with **********. Every time they contact them there is no manager there to speak to. Unsurprisingly there has been no follow up from the Cambrian. I would recommend caution to anyone who considers booking this hotel. At best this is a mistake (which reading other reviews has happened several times before) a mistake that the Cambrian are not bothered about and are happy for it to happen again. At worst they knew there was a booking but decided to book the room out anyway as it ha

Very long drive to find the onsite parking is the beer garden room for 2 cars which later got pint glasses put on the roof. Staff vague where my car would actually be safe, located a car park down the road. On arrival staff are very nice, the room really needed a deep clean, cups dirty and the bathroom radiator very dusty, along with the fan. Informed there would be live music until 12am, for the next 2 nights! Great just what we needed not, would not have booked if we had known. Only 2 pillows, 2 towels and no sink plug, this was resolved when I asked. Bed very uncomfortable and the live music was until 12am combined with the glass smashing. Breakfast was ok, lady was lovely and food was ok for the price. Could not cope with another night so returned home. Surrounding area was like the wild west, boy racers up and down the road. Certainly not what we had hoped for.

Arrived late after a 6 hour drive only to be presented with drunks outside smashing glass and then literally a 200 people club that went on till 11:30. Fire alarm at no fault of them but after taking a long time to get to sleep, a 2am bell wasn't a great addition
