Had a wonderful afternoon tea at the Saracens Head. We arrived to find our table beautifully decorated and laid out ready for us with pretty napkins, traditional afternoon tea style plates and tea cups. Our waitress Sarah was lovely and very attentive offering us a welcoming bottle of Prosecco and a huge pot of tea. The food arrived on a three tiered plate stand and it looked and tasted delicious. Finger sandwiches, amazing warm scones with cream and jam and a lovely yummy selection of cakes. It was really special, thank you!

Had a lovely lunch today at the Saracens in Towcester - we go there every week. The food is good value for money and we see all our friendly waitresses. Today we saw Tracey and we were very sorry to hear she would be leaving the next day. Tracey, along with her colleague Sarah, have always been there every week to chat to and be on the receiving end of their excellent customer service, a real credit to the hotel. We were so sorry to hear Tracey was leaving, we will really miss her and wish her every success for the future - she will be a brilliant asset wherever she decides to go next. The Saracens is a great place to go, great atmosphere, would highly recommend.

Very happy booked a night away in the middle of our journey. Staff are very welcoming and friendly. The atmosphere is great. The food was fantastic. Our room was lovely and just what we needed for a night's stay. Would recommend coming here. The town itself is lovely to walk around and a good way to walk off dinner and beautiful to just see the sites.

Me and my husband were craving a roast dinner without the hard work. We booked here for the first time and had a lovely meal, very generous in size. We would definitely come again. We had the beef and turkey with sides of pigs in blankets and left wanting a Sunday nanny nap. The Restaurant was very clean and tidy and David who looked after us was charming.

We stayed as a group of eight on a walking weekend. The rooms were ok, but we encountered problems with food throughout the weekend. We ate an evening meal on the Friday evening, an overall the meals were fine. However, despite pre-ordering, my starter was not the gluten free option I requested – as a Coeliac I ensured that my pre-order clearly stated it was from the non-gluten containing menu. They replaced the starter and confirmed they would check the correct main had been prepared. The continental breakfast on both days was poor. There were very limited quantities of the available choices of fruit, yoghurt, cereal, bread, and pastries (on the first day there were no bread and pastries), it was if the breakfasts were being rationed. With the exception of fruit and yoghurt there were no gluten free cereal or pastry choices. Service overall was poor. The first day the waitress was confused when we asked for the gluten free breakfast menu and despite asking again it never materialised, she instead gave a broad understanding of what was available. Clearly, the menu existed as on the second day I was presented with a tablet to make choices – although despite fully making my choice including fried egg, the waitress returned to ask which choice of egg I wanted. The cooked breakfast on the first day was generally ok but very poor on the second day. Most of the group ordered a cooked breakfast and when the breakfasts arrived, they were mainly cold, the exception being the eggs. The bacon was the worst being completely cold – a significant achievement when cooking breakfasts fresh.
