"The restaurant staff were helpful and friendly and food was to a good standard. Unfortunately we booked the hotel for its spa/pool facilities to be informed the day before that the spa was out of action due to a fault. On arrival we were informed this included the pool, however should be open the next day. Again the night after our stay a note was put up to state it was out of order on both days. Whilst we understand faults can take place, it's disappointing to book a hotel for its facilities and for none to be available when travelling with a child and this resulted in an early exit due to lack of facilities."

"I recently stayed at the Royal Seven Stars Hotel in Totnes and had a really lovely time. The location is fantastic—right in the heart of town. From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly. The room was clean, spacious, and well-maintained, with everything I needed for a comfortable visit. The hotel itself has a charming, historic feel, but with all the practical touches you’d expect. It was also pleasantly quiet at night, despite being so centrally located. Unfortunately, I had early starts so wasn’t there for breakfast. Overall, a great place to stay if you’re visiting Totnes, comfortable, convenient, and with genuinely warm hospitality."

"Whole site is cashless. I had a room with shared bathroom. I paid for basic room and was not disappointed. Thankfully since my last stay a few months previously, televisions have been put into these type rooms too. I did not eat breakfast as they do not cater for coeliac vegetarians."

"Myself and a friend visited the Maltsters Saturday evening and wow it did not disappoint! Greeted by Erin, we had a wonderful Crement one of the best I have had and the food was simply divine! Standout dish for me was the pork belly, I honestly have never tasted anything so delicious. I could not fault my starter, main, desert. It was one of the nicest meals I have had in a very long time, truly delicious!!!!!"

When we got to our room we were pleased that we had plenty of supplies of tea,coffee,milk,hot chocolate etc . Room was clean and tidy but wouldn't want to spend more than a night there as it was quite compact "

"The host was friendly, helpful and really did go out of her way to accommodate us, which we greatly appreciated. When our original room felt too small for us, she kindly moved us to a larger room at no extra charge. Breakfast was really good, the location was convenient, and being able to park outside was very helpful. There were definitely good points to the stay. For us, the property was a little more tired in places than we had expected from the online description and photographs, particularly some of the shared and outside areas. The larger room gave us more space and was comfortable, although the style was more traditional than we had anticipated. We also found that the hot water in the shower did not stay consistently warm, which was a little frustrating. Overall, we appreciated the hospitality and kindness, but the property did not quite match our expectations."

"We visited recently with friends, and we were looking forward to an enjoyable Sunday Lunch. We all ordered the 28 day aged slow cooked Roast Beef and were anticipating a succulent meal. To our amazement, we found that the meat was chewy and tough. My wife discreetly raised the issue with a staff member who said he would speak to the kitchen. He returned several minutes later, saying they could substitute the beef for another meat from the menu. My wife chose chicken, and I had roast belly pork, which also turned out to be very chewy. At no time did we receive an apology or any expression of regret. When we paid for the meal, we were charged full price, and the issue wasn't mentioned at all. The most disappointing aspect was the poor customer service. An obvious problem was barely acknowledged, and the bare minimum was done to resolve the problem. Eating out is not inexpensive, and our experience was spoiled as much by the attitude of the staff as the tough meat we were served. We live locally and will not be back"
