We stayed here with seven university students. The site is located on the north side of Shodoshima, away from the port, in an area where private houses are densely packed. A car is essential.
We arrived at night, so we were a little worried about the exterior, but when we opened the door, we found a nostalgic space that had been renovated from an old private house. The five tatami rooms and the dirt floor space were separated by fittings, so it could be used according to the guests' preferences. The dirt floor space, which is not seen in modern homes, leads people to the kitchen. All the dishes and microwaves were provided, so we were able to make cakes and pizzas and deepen our friendships. There was also a projector installed, so we could show Amazon Prime videos, so it's recommended to watch a movie with food in hand. As for the bath, the open-air bath was open and great. However, there wasn't enough hot water for seven people, so about two people had to use the separate shower room, which was a shame since it was cold in spring.
Overall, it was a valuable experience to live in an old house, and it was great to be able to use the actual dirt floor space. I would like architecture students to have this valuable experience!
Lastly, I recommend checking in in the evening and enjoying the old-style house life away from the hustle and bustle of modern life!! I'll come again!!
