Select Hill Resort

JUST DONT STAY HERE. Horrible experience. I feel like we were scammed, their marketing is great, it looks like a beautiful 5 star hotel in their advertising. IT IS NOT A 5 STAR HOTEL! 2 star at best. Service was the worst I’ve experienced in Albania, hostile and threatening bar and pool staff, they were literally angry when you ask for a drink. And as a woman I did not feel safe here. The food service was slow, food inedible, stale bread and very overpriced. The breakfast was pitterful, coffee and juices undrinkable, flies in the lukewarm warm sausages, filthy benches. Room was dirty. Balcony door didn’t even open so no access. Coffee machine was broken. Hair in the shower. No drinking water. Do not restock any mini bar etc. tje pool is more like an outdoor club with techno music blaring all afternoon. Hotel guests are treated poorly and only designated to a small pool area. No drinking water. horrible rude staff and security at pool. having to pay 2 euro for a bottle of water.My further list of complaints is huge and won’t fit on this review. Very upsetting as we spent a lot of money to stay here for 5 days. Luckily after checking out of this hell hole we went to a fantastic hotel in Tirana which was the highlight of our trip and could not fault it. Just don’t make the mistake of staying at Select hill. I am a avid traveler and will be telling everyone I know going to Albania not to go to this place.

The place is amaizing. Although in a low period all the services were opened. Loved the SPA and the indoor pool. We had a room for 1 night, just a getway and we were upgraded for free from the hotel to a deluxe room. The balcony was lovely and we could see the whole of Tirana from there. We had only one meal which was very good and surprisingly affordable for what we had. Lovely experience.

So , 1200 lek taxi from town Arrived at 3pm,Tuesday afternoon , thumping loud Albanian disco music.. ok not my idea of a relaxing afternoon but ... the place looks nice, huge pool , a bridge to cross it, its all very modern , hotel area looks nice, its a huge area of umbrellas and sunbeds ( just like an Albanian beach ) but surrounded by beauriful green forested hills..900 lek to enter ( I'm a girl it's 800 plus towel , boys you pay 1000 lek ) I was shown to a cigarette burnt bed at the back next to the changing rooms and the shower., it was very busy ,I guess. I tried to relax , but thumping music and screaming youths not helpful . Got a drink , waiter helpful, 700 lek and no table ro put drink on.i drank it carefully but still lost 30% when the glass fell over. Finally at 5pm the thrashing waters of the pool subsided , the music became tolerable and I went for a much needed swim. Ahhh... such a beautiful pool but the water was smelly ,not only chlorine but an unpleasant smell and the pool floor was kind of slimy .. after drying off I went to the bar / restaurant terrace , which has a great view and really nice , enjoyed a gin tonic , 1000 lek , and was lucky to find a taxi back to Tirana . 15 min ride , another 1200. Not a cheap arvo, quite pleasant but the unclean pool was a disappointment.. maybe just a busy day.

We were there in Saturday 27th. The resort is nice but the management is terrible. We booked to stay there one night and when we went there , there was no sunbed reserved for us. They kept saying it was busy, despite the fact we booked to stay there for the night. Keyword: we booked 2 weeks in advance so there was 0 excuse. Hotel guests should be prioritised, like in every other quality resort.The pool staff was horrible. The most horrible I ever came across with in 30 countries I travelled. Especially the girl with black hair the short one. Very arrogant. Extremely unprofessional , people like that should not be employed on 5 star hotels. Let alone, when we would order drinks at the pool, the waiter behaviour was just as bad. The resort is beautiful, rooms as well, but the staff management is what makes the experience horrible , and never coming back to that place again. Good points only to the one guy in hotel reception in saturday cuz he was the only one who at least tried to help, otherwise the pool stuff is what makes this resort a 1 star one, not even close to 5.
