If I could I would rate this 0 out of 5. I've stayed in a lot of hotels and motels of various quality and cleaness level. They all managed to at least give me a clean bed and working plumbing - the Senator failed to provide even these basics! To start with positive, the door to room the had both a secure latch and a deadbolt lock. I really got to appreciate that at least I was somehow safe in the room I paid for, as the lobby/hotel is roamed both inside and outside by the unfortunates of Timmins. On the downside that brings them to aboslute zero, is the bedsheets had not been changed and had a big stain, and hair from the previous occupant. Beds were nicely made up with the filthy sheets! To add the insult the sink was blocked, and hair and stains on door and hairdryer. The room initially smelled like airfreshener, but after a while an underlying smell of mold and dirt started creeping in. Breakfast was supposed to be included. I cannot tell if there was breakfast or how it was, as there was no way I would eat anything coming out of this hotel. The lady in the reception was very nice and apologetic, and I was offered a discount. Unfortunately no apologies or discount could ever make up for a bed with dirty sheets. The only suitable compensation would be if the management of the Senator were forced to spend a night in the rooms they rent out to unknowing guests. TLTR Sheets don't get changed after guests and homeless people in and outside hotel

Rude Extremely rude concierge when I checked in- Never have I had to pay a deposit or this time he made me pull in cash for him. Was strange. However, the lady in the morning when I checked out very, very helpful very very kind very very pleasant

The room was spacious and price was slightly higher than standard. Shower has sufficient pressure, bathroom and towels clean

Perfect for staying downtown. The hotel is located conveniently close to everything but it is a bit outdated, especially the washrooms. Breakfast was great, staff was excellent.
