Le Tikehau by Pearl Resorts

Le Tikehau was the perfect spot for the last leg of our honeymoon. It was so quiet, romantic, and relaxing. The food was great at every meal, and there were plenty of wine and drink options. There were plenty of things to do, from kayaking, to snorkeling excursions, to simply swimming or lounging! On top of that, all the staff were helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. A great spot for a relaxing paradise getaway.

TIKEHAU SUMMARY THINGS WE LOVED: 1.The resort beach and water around was very clean. Not a single piece of plastic or any other kind of trash. 2.Lots of little fish around the lagoon 3.Very big overwater villas 4. Very comfortable boat transfer from and to the airport. 5. Very friendly staff 6. Compared to Maldives overwater villas, these felt a lot more sturdy. We couldn't feel wind nor rain. Very easy to relax and quiet to sleep in. 7. Free minibar 8. Very good cocktails THINGS THAT WERE WEIRD: 1.All messages left by the hotel were in italian (have no idea why). 2.Most of the staff didnt speak/ understand english. Some would give us wrong food orders because of that, or provide us with incorrect information (instead of just replying "i dont understand"). 3. No drinking water was provided in the room, you had to shlep your way to the water fountain to refill bottles, yourself. THINGS WE DIDN'T LIKE: 1.Small flies on your food as soon as you sit down to eat. 2.Smelly villa sinks for the first two days. Thankfully it got much better after we continued using it. 3.Some dishes on the menu were so horrible, we were astonished. Old and dry salad with no dressing, tasteless steak, old ingredients...The poke bowl was beyond bad, the steak should be avoided too.... The breakfast was so sad looking too, terrible fruit selection with a ton of flies, burnt pancakes for 3 days in a row, little options and in general sad looking given what you are charged.... Kids food options were also a joke, dry tasteless fish with tasteless white rice. Some deep fried chicken (one of those you keep in the freezer for a lazy day). The only good option was a hamburger, i wish they simply served with some cucumber and tomatoes instead of super salty fries. Not exactly healthy for the kids. The pasta was with red sauce only (the lady said they dont put meat in kids pasta, however on the last day the guy brought my son bollognese....lol) 4. One of the robes was not clean Overall, i would not come back and i would not recommend coming here. There are better options out there for a much better price.

It was my 5th time going to Le Tikehau Pearl Reosrts this year. Everything about this place is absolutely amazing. It’s a small beautiful property. Perfect place to unwind and relax. Great hospitality and good vibes I had an amazing massage by Poerani Bea, I loved her massage technique. Highly recommended

Tikihau Pearl Resorts was absolutely stunning. We stayed in the premium OWB (44) and could not have asked for a better location. The hotel meets you at the airport and takes care of everything for you including luggage transport. After a short drive from the airport, you hop on a boat and they take you to the hotel which is on their own separate Motu. It is about a 10 minute ride. The service and cleanliness was superior in every regard. It is recently renovated so the bungalows smell amazing. And seriously have I mentioned the location?! If you go I suggest the premium side OWB and left side to get the sunsets. Ours was surrounded by reef and coral so we could hop right in and snorkel to our hearts content. There is only one restaurant and the food albeit a little pricy, was very good. You have a variety of excursions available to you at the hotel which they arrange. We took a 1/2 day snorkeling tour to swim with Manta Rays, dolphins, lots of “friendly” sharks, and about a zillion fish. Overall the experience was magnificent. The Pearl resorts is offering a pretty hefty discount (35%) for staying at two of their resorts so we are off to Le Taha’a Pearl resorts! I will absolutely be back to Tikihau, because it was a trip of a lifetime and the hotel made it all the more magical!

Absolutely stunning location, in a beautiful set of atolls. Lovely snorkelling from the pier. Free kayaks to explore the area. Newly refurbished over water huts, which were nice. I expected a better bathroom for the price point, and much better outdoor loungers, but it was all usable. I’m a big snorkeler and Tikehau probably had the best marine life I saw in FP: The resort had a few areas in which improvements are desperately needed; 1) the food is absolutely horrendous. Not just bad, but almost inedible. The chef has a pretentious menu, and things look fancy, but the taste is absolutely awful. Badly cooked, weird flavour or no flavour, salty, lots of ingredients that are straight from a can. I appreciate the resort is remote but so are many other places I travelled to in the South Pacific. They used local ingredients - lots of fresh fish, coconuts, hydroponic ingredients etc. it’s It’s so bad that I wouldn’t return purely for this reason which is such a shame as Tikehau is spectacular. 2) The staff seem entirely disinterested in their jobs/hospitality. If sat at the pool, it was almost impossible to flag a waitress to order a drink. When you did, it seemed a huge inconvenience. The staff that provide snorkels or kayaks offer absolutely no advice on where to paddle/where not to paddle or any risks/things to be aware of when snorkelling. Given there are stone fish and lion fish in the area - and very dangerous currents in some places, I’d be a bit more proactive! 3) there was only one excursion actually running via a third party operator. It was okay, not great. They took us to the Tikehau pass, where tiger sharks are often spotted. Hugely dangerous, very strong currents going out to sea, and kids were on the boat! Recipe for a shark bite or drowning. They shouldn’t be taking people there - many other nice snorkelling spots which are much safer for a family/general outing I could see the GM was trying hard to improve things. I felt sorry for him. But I really think he has to bite the bullet and sack the chef; it was absolutely appalling. And I travel maybe 50% of any year and stay in 5* hotels, so know what the standard is. It’s so far from this.
