Jungle Lodge Tikal Hostal

Overall, it was nice if not overwhelming. This accommodation tries to be a lot of different things to a lot of different types of travelers. The main thing is that it is at the national park. Staff is friendly but seem mostly detached and disinterested. There seemed to be unnecessary delay in check-in which was annoying. Room was clean and comfortable. The pool is also very refreshing after much hiking. My one actual complaint was the lack of purified water. The room came with 2 smallish (750ml?) disposable plastic bottles of drinking water (per day), but if you need more, and you will, you are forced to buy additional disposable plastic bottles either from the hotel or from one of the vendors at the park. I don't think I have ever seen a hotel in the tropics that did not have a way to refill water bottles from large reusable water containers. Even if there was a small fee to do so, it would be better than going through thousands of disposable plastic bottles. That single-use plastic bottles are even allowed in the Biosphere Reserve is unconscionable. This fact alone would make it hard for me to recommend this hotel. I cannot speak to what the other 2 hotel options in the park do in this regard.

I loved this stay. It’s located in the jungle of Tikal and you can watch monkeys climb in the trees while enjoying dinner in a place that feels like an adventure. The restaurant and facilities are very attractive and exciting. You are in the jungle so there are bugs and critters, but the hotel is clean and comfortable and feels like an archaeological expedition with a bar. The staff are excellent and I’d like to leave a special shoutout to Braner at the front desk. He was great! The food is a bit expensive and subpar but the opportunity to wake up and explore the ancient Mayan city of Tikal is unforgettable. Truly a once in a lifetime excursion.

Very nice accommodations nestled in the tropical forests and surrounded with the sounds of the Jungle. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The restaurant was excellent and the choices of various cuisines were nice. It has a relaxing pool and lounge with Bar. Access to the Temples of Tikal was an easy walk from the facilities.

This is the sister hotel to Isle de Flores in Flores and used the chargeable service today transit between the two hotels which was very convenient. The hotel enjoys a great location within the Tikal ticket checking area as the nearest accommodation to the main Tikal ruins. There is a central reception area with restaurant and bar with bungalows spread out in the grounds which retains a jungle setting. Rooms are well appointed and fairly spacious. Our only minor issue was the water for showering which seemed to fluctuate between boiling hot and very cold. In the morning there was no hot water at all however it was only an overnight stay and given the remote location some leeway needs to be given. We had dinner, breakfast and a late lunch here. No complaints, all the food was edible and quite substantial. We thought this was an excellent base for viewing Tikal and given its remote location, the services provided are very good.

We recommend this property if you want to disconnect and be in contact with nature. If you are planning to see the sunrise at Tikal -is a good choice to stay in this hostal because of its location. Food is average.

A diamond in the jungle I can’t say enough about this amazing location. I arranged the shuttle for $25 USD for round trip transportation and had to adjust the time due to a late arrival and they were very accommodating. It is within walking distance to Tikal which is very convenient especially after a long day of exploring. The staff were amazing and very helpful. The restaurant, bar and pool onsite are all exceptional. I used the shared bathrooms and showers and they were constantly attended to and very clean.
