The first issue was finding the place. Google maps thinks it is somewhere else. The email instructions say to follow the signs for the marina and ferry however there then isn’t a sign where you turn in, so if you see white stones, turn left and that’s you on the property. The property itself has various buildings - you can walk between them however, in the dark this is so dangerous as there are no paths or street lights. Leads to you taking your car and then making sure you really watch out for any pedestrians. Restaurant Breakfast was included and nice enough. Afternoon menu 2.30-4. Not great for eating earlier with small children. Dinner was okay. Not fine dining by any means. The “bar” is just a subset of the restaurant. Not really any ambiance and with nowhere else to go nearby for a juice or a drink it’s a bit of ashame. Room Comfortable bed Good views Paper thin walls and floors Absolutely roasting, had to go round turning off/down the radiators. We stayed in “the lodge” which has a vending machine that doesn’t work, a water fountain that provides room temperature water, communal toilets which were broken and closed however left the corridor very smelly and a “chill out zone” which housed all these things that didn’t open till 11am. So if you want a (room temp) water pre 11am, you can’t get one there. Facilities Enjoyed the outdoor heated pool in the cold weather. Nice views. Lifeguard on duty. Hot tubs were nice, not too warm. The outside pool could go a really good clean and some small chunks of tiles need replaced. I liked that you booked your time so there wasn’t overcrowding. Well equipped gym however it could go a bit of a clean. We were in, in the morning and the mats and floor needed a good hoover.

Stunning accommodation and venue - we had the best couple of nights away here. We go away regularly and this has been our favourite yet. Only downside I would say is the menu. Not a lot of variety especially for vegetarian/vegans. The staff were fabulously polite and helpful.

We had a lovely few days here after Christmas. Very peaceful & accomodation clean, spacious & very well equipped for a relaxing break. The breakfast at the marina restaurant was really lovely. A nice selection of fruit, meat, croissants & table service for a hot breakfast, so that you always know it is fresh. Scenic views over the marina too. The staff were really lovely in the restaurant. A special mention to Henry who seems to work long hours, but always manages to greet people cheerily. Much appreciated. Also, a special thanks to the restaurant Manager, who gave us a takeaway breakfast one morning & paracetamol when I was ill! The staff really go above and beyond here, which makes you want to return. It's also worth visiting the restaurant in the evening. The scallops/pollock were cooked perfectly & it was good value for money. Yum! Our accommodation was very peaceful, spacious, well equipped & clean & an issue with the fridge was resolved quickly by Josh. Again, brilliant customer service. The outdoor spa is really lovely! We had visited previously & had two very different experiences. The first time, it was quite busy with young children, so it didn't feel like a spa, but more of a (lovely) public leisure centre. It is open to the public, so could become quite busy I think. There are signs advising that young kids should not use the outdoor hot tubs, but parents were ignoring these unfortunately. Lots of kids backflipping, shouting etc. in close proximity, which made it hard to relax, so we left early! If I could change anything here, I would suggest that they restrict the kids to the inside of the spa, where they can enjoy the swimming pool, splash pool & indoor hot tub. The adults could then enjoy relaxing outdoors. Just a minor gripe, as I realise you can't please everyone & that may not suit some! They do offer the option of another spa experience upstairs I think for adults only, but this is an extra charge. It is based inside I think & the outdoor experience is too lovely to miss. We had a totally different experience on our 2nd visit, as it was mostly couples visiting, therefore, the spa felt ,like a spa experience. It was blissfully peaceful & relaxing, with amazing views outdoors & the hot tubs/infinity pool were lovely & warm. It left us so chilled all day! All in all a lovely, relaxing stay. The staff make it a great experience I feel. We will return again soon!

Great stay Great stay for a couple of days, remote so ideal to switch off, staff friendly, nice food in the restaurant with big portions, highlight is the outdoor pool and hot tubs

Lodge room was very comfortable, clean. Bit of a walk to get to restaurant from it if you want to have a drink first or have mobility issues. But top marks to hotel reception they organised a pick up from room & back when finished by a very pleasant & helpful young man called Pete. Only issue was my steak at dinner, it wasn't good & don't think it was rump either as said on menu Other than that food very good

Sadly we were unable to enjoy the break as much as we would have liked. Absolutely nothing to do with the resort. Quite the opposite! I unfortunately took unwell. Peter, the First Aider could not have been more attentive and dialled 999. He stayed with me until the Paramedics arrived. I was Blue lighted back down to Dunoon and kept in overnight. Once I had seen the doctor again the following morning and released from hospital. Portavadie sent Josh, a duty manager the 1.5 hours down to pick up me and my wife and return us to the resort. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced such care anywhere else in the past.
