Magnificent well maintained well groomed grounds.

This place has so much potential, but in its current state, it’s a complete disappointment. It needs to shut down, change management, and completely rebrand. A localized owner/company might be able to turn it around, but as it stands, it’s not worth the time or cost. I’m not writing this in rage because I lost money, my work covered the cost of my stay so I'm fine. I’m writing this because I genuinely don’t want others to waste their hard-earned money and limited vacation time here. If you only read one review, let it be this one. The resort markets itself as “luxury,” but there is nothing luxurious about it. Even a carnival cruise felt more upscale. The surrounding town of Monticello doesn’t offer much either. If you’re coming to explore the Catskills/Hudson Valley and want an upscale experience, you’re better off staying in Hudson, Catskill, Tannersville, or Windham, where there are far nicer accommodations like Scribner’s Lodge. After my stay, I scrolled through most of the reviews to make sense of what I just experienced. The 1-star reviews are all correct. The resort’s responses are almost identical, “We appreciate your feedback” or “Personal preferences vary”. Taking a very "feelings aren’t facts" approach, so, let’s go ahead and separate the facts from the feelings. Fact: The food is not vegan, organic, or consistently healthy as advertised. Limited options in general. The breakfast buffet included frozen Eggo-style waffles and frozen hash browns. I bit into them and parts were still frozen, so yes, frozen food. Feeling: Feels cheap and cost-cutting, not what’s promised. Fact: Lighting throughout the property is extremely bright. Feeling: Creates a harsh, clinical vibe, more like a hospital than a spa. Fact: My massage therapist arrived 10 minutes late. Feeling: Massage was fine but forgettable. It didn’t feel like a premium spa experience. Fact: Hallway and dining room carpets had visible stains. Feeling: Signals poor upkeep and lack of care. Fact: Previous guest’s food was still in our mini fridge. Feeling: Makes it clear rooms are not cleaned thoroughly despite claims of strict protocols. Fact: Multiple guests were overheard complaining about being “ripped off” or “scammed,” and one couple argued with the front desk for a refund at checkout. Feeling: Confirms the disappointment wasn’t just mine. Fact: Towel provided for acupuncture had visible stains; when I asked for a clean one, the therapist insisted it was already clean. Feeling: Completely unacceptable for a wellness setting. Fact: Latte I ordered was made with Cafe Bustelo from a tub, yet charged at $10.95 as a “specialty” drink. Feeling: Overpriced and misleading. Fact: Main lobby had a large, unfinished ceiling patch. Feeling: Adds to the sense of neglect. Many of the employees were very nice and clearly wanted to do a good job, but others looked tired, disengaged, and like they had given up. There’s no sense of hospitality or warmth. I am writing to formally express my extreme disappointment regarding my recent stay at Yo1 Wellness and Spa in Monticello. My experience was far below the standards promised by their establishment and certainly not reflective of the “luxury wellness resort” it is marketed to be. From the moment we arrived, the lack of service and staff presence was alarming. There was no valet or concerierge to greet us or assist with our luggage . The property felt desolate and unstaffed — there was no one available to provide direction or assistance, and finding even basic amenities required multiple calls and effort on our part. After multiple attempts to reach the front desk, and housekeeping extension we requested ice for our room, we were first told that someone would bring it right up, but after waiting 20 minutes with no response, we called again , again trying multiple times to get throu to the front desk, we were then told to come downstairs and get it ourselves. This is not the level of service expected at a wellness resort of their caliber. The spa experience was equally disappointing. The massage room was not properly cleaned, and the headrest on my table had someone else’s hair on it — an unacceptable lapse in sanitation. Dinner was another major letdown. The buffet food was cold, the selection was limited, and guests were left to scrape their own plates, creating an experience that felt more like a cafeteria than a luxury dining environment. The only class that was available during our stay — a meditation session — also extremely disappointing. The instructor’s tone and approach were unexpectedly negative, creating an atmosphere that felt depressing and uncomfortable rather than calming or restorative. I have never before felt the need to walk out of a class, but in this case, I did, as the experience was emotionally draining rather than uplifting. This was deeply concerning, especially at a wellness retreat that is supposed to promote positivity and relaxation. Furthermore, most of the advertised amenities were unavailable. There was only one class offered, while other activities were either canceled, “do-it-yourself,” or closed entirely. The salon, shops, pool, and other facilities were shut down without prior notice. At one point, after walking outside, the doors locked behind us, and we had to pound on the doors to be let back in — an embarrassing and unsafe situation. This stay was unacceptable on every level — both in terms of service and overall guest experience. We booked Yo1 Wellness and Spa based on its reputation as a serene, high-end wellness retreat, but what we encountered was an understaffed, poorly managed, and misleading operation.

I had a wonderful time at YO1. The facilities are beautiful, the treatments are top-notch, and the food is healthy and delicious. It's the perfect place to relax and recharge. I would definitely come back!

Beautiful luxury resort on lake with scenic views. Our suite was clean with lake view. Yoga, meditation, various massages are available. Healthy meals. Staff was friendly. Facility includes pool, jaccuzi sauna, steam room, game room with pool table, poker table, dart game, table tennis, playstation, theater
