The Woodlands® Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton

Location: The resort is conveniently located near major attractions and offers easy access to restaurants and shops. It's praised for its beautiful setting, reminiscent of a resort outside of Texas, making it an ideal family getaway.

Very nice resort but dated for the price and expectation of Curio Collection level resort. Limited number of luggage carts were available despite being early for checkin. Checkin parking is limited. Don’t park there long as it is both selfish for other guests but may get you ticketed. Parking is either $35 a day for Valet or there is a good amount of free parking but it is a hike from most rooms just not quite as far as some large resorts. Registration building is newer and modern vibe right next to the lobby bar atrium although seemed more of an afterthought. While checkout is supposed to be digits for Hilton Honors guests, because they make you return special pool towel cards or they charge you $25 each it forced an awkward line at checkout time waiting for one of only 3 staff to assist them. They should incorporate some sort of app driven towel claim instead of mixing digital and analog approaches. Not what I would expect of a purported “luxury” resort. Off of this building are some newer renovated rooms that abut the pond and I think some have golf course views but this building does not have direct access to the pools. As a gold member I was given an option for room upgrade. Lakeside building pool patio wall out was ok, room was a bit dated and while AC was cold the fridge was tiny and the patio light broken. They did respond to my request and had it fixed the next evening. A lot of overgrowth making the walk out a bit rough and one area without any stepping stones at all to the walkway forcing walking over with wet feet and collecting dirt before entering room. Doors really old and no mechanism to lock from the outside kind of eliminating the true walk out benefit. Pools were nice, but need to get out there between 9:00 and 9:05 to stake claim on good seating. Very limited overall seating other than lounge style chairs, many without table or umbrella. Primary pool as pictured with the double helix tower slide. Note although photos look like the slide is from the top of the tower it is only half way up the tower. Slides require a 44” minimum and are attended by staff. No access to the top of the tower. Water slides had varying speed so not really good for racing as advertised. Not good if claustrophobic. Slides drop into small holding pool that spills over into two small waterfalls into the lower main pool with a concrete slide that was a bit lame because it didn’t have any natural water flow when not right as someone exited the slides above. Littles can use this slide but they do have to contend with those shooting out of the slides into the same small area. Lower pool has 3 main areas, beach style zero entry, volleyball area / basketball area and a island area that had some fun water bubble currents near it reef style island with underwater “artifacts” and a fun treasure chest and underwater speakers. Next there was a tiny splash pad area where they held a Saturday 1 hour foam party which was a really big hit. Next to
