It’s my third time in Phuket. This time I chose the remote Kaolak area. It turned out to be the right choice. I perfectly avoided the large number of Chinese people during the Spring Festival. During the one-week stay in the hotel, I saw no more than ten Chinese people. The last time I saw such a high number of people was in Komodo Island in Indonesia.
I was dazzled before choosing, but I chose this one blindly afterwards. It has a high overall cost-effectiveness and is not the kind that is hyped up on Xiaohongshu, so there are even fewer Chinese people who buy it.
The hotel has three sections (garden area/swimming pool area/beach villa area)
It's quite big, but you can see the dirty pool in the garden area from a distance... I lived in the swimming pool area and it was okay. The foreigners didn't splash around at night so it wasn't noisy. If you can't get the most expensive one in the beach villa area, don't book it. The view of the cheaper ones is very bad. The hotel has two swimming pools, the water quality seems to be OK, there is a private beach, and there are several other hotels nearby such as Merlin, so you can go swimming in the sea without too fast waves (but do it within your ability). The seaside restaurant and bar have a great view, and the pizza in the restaurant is delicious. The girl who cleans the room every day is very nice and does a very clean job.
Let me talk about my complaints throughout the whole process. I was given the wrong room type when I checked in. If I hadn't gone to reconfirm, I would have suffered a loss (I'm really wondering if this is discrimination...). The toilet in the room I moved to was broken. It was the kind that kept running water. I called someone to fix it, but it got worse after a few days. In the end, they closed the toilet door and didn't want to fix it. The air conditioner was very old and noisy. I have to wear earplugs as I am a light sleeper. The pillow was too thin and it was really uncomfortable. I stayed there for seven days and had breakfast for six days. There was really nothing fancy about it. The only thing that Chinese stomachs can eat is white porridge with shredded ginger (too miserable).
In short, if you choose to stay here, I only recommend a day trip to Similan or a pure white-style lie-down, otherwise it will be really boring.
