Tateyama Seaside Hotel

The rooms in the executive building are new and large, with ample space for three beds. There is a hot spring between the two buildings, so you can soak in the hot spring while looking at the sea during the day. The breakfast set is quite rich, enough for a grown man to eat. The staff are very warm and friendly. The sea view at night is beautiful.

Since I don't drive, I was looking for a hot spring hotel within walking distance of Tateyama Station and with a stunning ocean view. This one was great in every way, except for a few issues: There's an indescribable odor in the hallway leading from the second floor of the annex to the main building. If you're a zoo lover like me, you can probably imagine the smell. Even with the windows open for fresh air, it's still unpleasant, and it wafts all the way up to the second floor of the annex. That floor seems unoccupied these days, so I wonder if that's the reason... Also, on a scorching 30-plus degree day, they still covered guests with thick, thick quilts—the thickest kind. On my first night, the air conditioner was set at 22 degrees, and I was sweating profusely, kicking the quilt to the floor. On my second night, the air conditioner had to be lowered to 18 degrees before I could sleep. Is that environmentally friendly? Both pillows were high, and my cervical spondylosis was aggravated, so I had to use them without them.

The food is average

Overall the hotel is quite old, but the room I stayed in was in the annex and new, so it was in a good location and clean.
