We booked this just an hour before we arrived. The staff could not have been more helpful! The room was fantastic and the food on offer was fabulous. Nothing short of 5*****! They were very accommodating with extra requests and the breakfasts were freshly cooked. The place has a real holiday feel and I would highly recommend a stay here!

My husband and i had the pleasure of staying a night at the bakery in Tatfield and it was absolutely lovely from start to finish. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming — they really made me feel right at home. You can tell they genuinely care about their guests. The place itself was spotless — very clean and tidy, with a charming and cozy atmosphere. Our room was surprisingly spacious, extremely comfortable, and had everything we needed for a relaxing night. It's rare to find somewhere this nice at such an affordable price. And of course, the bakery itself is a must-visit. The smell of a well cooked English breakfast in the morning is reason enough to stay here! Everything we tried was delicious, clearly made with care and high-quality ingredients. Highly recommended if you're passing through Tatfield or looking for a peaceful, budget-friendly getaway. We will definitely be back.

Disappointed and dirty experience. Started by arriving after a long trip at 9pm to check in. Desk was open till 10pm on app. No one was in so called the number and no answer. The door key card was left under the mat so no security, the room was extremely dirty with cobwebs over the whole room. On the lights hanging from the ceiling and the wardrobes looked battered and aged. Only like bit was the bed but still had to sweep off the dust off the top of the sheets. Doesn’t look like it has been cleaned in awhile. The people running it didn’t seem to fussed about the place and was letting it go when it comes to customer service and experience. There was flys all over the bathroom and mold in the tiles of the bathroom shower. The light was hanging off the ceiling and was extremely dangerous and the curtain pole was about to fall off too. (Housekeeper was notified)

A very bizarre stay. I booked one night at The Bakery Rooms as we were attending a wedding nearby. When we arrived, the check-in process was a bit amateur (I don't think they even asked my name or to prove my ID) but the room was fine, it was only for one night, so whatever. We arrived back from the wedding at around 10.30pm, used our key card to go into our room and... all our stuff was gone. Someone else's bags were in there and there was another bed set up. Confused, we rang the number taped to the restaurant door (which is closed) and had to wake up one of the staff to come and help us. Staff member comes to meet us. She's adamant that she had a Whatsapp conversation with me asking permission to swap rooms with a guest who had accessibility needs (we had a ground floor room, she wanted to move us up to a first floor room). She showed me the Whatsapp conversation with someone saved as "Hotel Guest". It goes without saying, she hadn't been talking to me. She hadn't even asked this person to confirm their name before moving out stuff - without our knowledge or permission - to another room. She was apologetic but we were really annoyed. It seems the new owners have no concept about how to run a hotel or B&B - and you definitely can't run one over Whatsapp! We are also fortunate that we didn't walk in on any hotel guests staying in "our room" as I'm sure having strangers burst in while asleep would have been scary for them. We made it our new room. Nothing was lost or missing, but I was disappointed that we weren't even offered a partial or full refund for their own mistake. (The new room was basic but fine, clean, but there was no hand soap in bathroom and no milk for the tea and coffee making facilities. These are pretty basic things). We then read some recent reviews and realised that other guests also had similar weird experiences staying here. It seems the new owners are piggy-backing off the old owners' success and have no clue what they're doing. The reviews also made us decide to skip breakfast the next day - instead, we went to the tea rooms across the road for tea and cake in the morning. I would avoid staying here unless it's one night and you have low expectations.

Do Not Stay at this Property - Arrived at 7pm and No One available to check in. Sign on the door with mobile number and however when called no one answered, spoke with ******* who were also unable to contact the owner as landline disconnected. The locals at the pub opposite tried to contact the owner for me. Finally a rep arrived after 1hr with a key fob, no apology given. Restuarant closed! Ask to check the room first as I had been forewarned from locals the rooms were smelly, as this was my request I then received a phone call from the owner, verbally abusive and said you wouldn't ask this if staying at a home! Indeed not but I am paying for a hotel room. Was told to F off and leave! Appalling, when complained via ******* I have been refused a refund as the owner had declined. This used to be an excellent hotel with fabulous restaurant - sadly the old owner has left and the no has no-idea. Not one to normally leave reviews, but wouldn't want someone else to have a similar experiance.

Be careful that you are not charged twice on your credit card. My experience was that the management did nothing to put this right. I am sure that the owner would not like it if he or she were charged twice for one service,.......................

Would not recommend Despite the friendly staff, we didn’t enjoy our stay. There was a strong, unpleasant smell in the restaurant and staircase. The shower didn’t function as a shower and just had a fierce one-stream jet wash. The room was small, old-fashioned in decor and chilly. On the plus side, the bedding and towels were clean and the inside/outside key worked.
