We were really looking forward to our stay, especially because of the location and wildlife, but unfortunately the lodge did not meet our expectations. On the positive side our guide was knowledgeable and passionate about the environment, and we were lucky to spot a wide variety of animals at Sandoval Lake, which was the highlight of the trip. Other than that, the trip had few positives. There was no wifi or power outlets in the room. The Lodge provided no shower soap or shanpoo, which is surprising for a place that advertises itself as a resort. The shower only had cold water and the bathroom has a strong sewage smell. One day, the water stopped working entirely for several hours. The food was very bland, and felt more like a school cafeteria than a lodge in the Amazon. Much of the property looks neglected, with parts of the resort and surrounding areas appearing abandoned or rundown. Throughout our third day, llegal gold mining in the river by the lodge disrupted the peace. The noise could be heard all over the lodge area. It’s a shame, because the natural surroundings are stunning and the wildlife was fantastic. But the poor infrastructure, lack of maintenance, and overall guest experience made this stay a disappointment. We chose a 4 days 3 night trip, and by the end we just wanted to get back to the town to have some freedom over what to eat and what to do. If you want to experience the peruvian Amazon rainforest, please go for another lodge.

We started our journey from Puerto Maldonado with a scenic 35-minute boat ride to reach Monte Amazonico Lodge. The ride was a beautiful introduction to the Amazon, and the lodge—surrounded by lush nature—was simply amazing. Rooms and dining room were cleaned. Our guide, Ronal, was fantastic! He was knowledgeable, friendly, and explained everything so well during our jungle walks, especially about the animals, insects, and birds we spotted along the way. We’re also very thankful to the kitchen staff for accommodating us with delicious vegetarian meals throughout our stay—it truly made a difference. Overall, it was an unforgettable experience and we highly recommend Monte Amazonico Lodge to anyone visiting the Amazon!

My family and I traveled from the U.S. to fulfill a long-time dream of visiting the Amazon, and Monte Amazonico Lodge made it unforgettable. Fernando, our tour guide, went above and beyond to make the experience truly special. The lodge was cozy and surrounded by beautiful native flora and fauna, creating an authentic Amazonian atmosphere. The activities offered were both fun and enriching, giving us a deeper appreciation for the region. On top of that, the meals were fresh, natural, and absolutely delicious—something my entire family appreciated.
