Royal Carrangarra Hotel
"Ben is a great showman and the chicken races are a must see when in Tambo, and a great charity to support. The bar is ok too, as a typical old outback boozer. But the accommodation is horrible - the place is basically a run down dump. Dirty, bad beds, noisy window-rattler aircon units, ancient communal showers and toilets, peeling paint and mess everywhere. Doesn’t meet any standards in my opinion. Ben appears to be doing a lively trade courtesy of the funny chicken show, but nothing is being invested back into the building or amenities. Strongly suggest you stay somewhere better."
Oasis Motor Inn Blackall
"We loved our room and the wheelchair access was very good. Our only complaint was on our last night we met our family for dinner at the restaurant and through some problem with our order one of us at the table didn.t end up getting his meal. We called over our waitress and explained the issue. She saw the chef and came back and said the chef was going to prepare the meal then and said it wouldn.t be too long. The meal still hadn.t arrived when we were all ready to leave. The manager was very apologetic and gave us our drinks complimentary. I understand mistakes can happen and the management were very sorry.....it just spoiled our evening a little. Everything else about our five night stay was excellent. We will definitely be back next year."
Blackall Coolibah Motel
"The smell in this place was putrid to say the least but then went to the local IGA and realised its the whole town that reeks of a rotten egg smell. The room had cockroaches, one bread knife and one spoon for 3 people who were booked in for 2 nights. Noticed all the rooms that were vacant had their doors open and looked really well refurbished compared to the room we were given, so they're very selective when it comes to rooms, who gets room service and who doesn't etc., which says a whole lot about the mentality of the owner/town. Just keep driving away from these kind of places, especially if youre not a white Aussie. You will not be welcome at all."
