Scenic Matavai is perfectly situated for amazing views over the ocean. The Clifftop rooms were the furthest away from the main area which we did not mind, great uninterrupted views, clean and tidy, expresso coffee machine and comfy outdoor chairs on balcony. 2 x pools, one with swim up pool bar. Only negative here would be the lack of sun umbrellas as it was a juggle getting out of the sun. Restaurant offered continental breakfast, and 1 x hot meal from the menu. A bit hit and miss with the food and service sometimes. Staff a little reserved but all friendly once they got to know you. Easy parking for your rental car. We went to dine under the stars one night which due to rain we were under the verandah. A few wee hiccups but meal lovely. Good evening meal selection with reasonable pricing. Overall this is an awesome place to explore Niue from. It was great to come back here each day and spend time with other guests around the pool. On check out day you can drop your bags off at the airport and them come back to the resort and spend the morning.

Excellent hotel with fabulous staff. The new chief offered great food and the rooms were perfect. The view from our room, was very special, with outstanding views over the ocean. Pool area perfect for relaxing, after returning of days activites

Have just stayed here for 7 days. Stunning spot on the cliff top with endless sea views. Comfortable rooms, clean, nice touch with robes and coffee pods even an umbrella for those island showers. Staff were friendly and helpful, thankyou Sala, Papu, Kini, Posa, Belinda , Shadow (delicious cocktails at the pool bar) and all the staff that made our holiday special nothing was too much trouble. Thank you again Steve and Kim x

We came for dinner at the Matavai Resort for dinner. Our table was outside under the awning which was lovely. The staff who was our main waiter, Papu, was very friendly & relaxed but efficient. I had fish for my main which was yellowfin tuna. Beautifully cooked & presented with a tasty green salad & delicious chips. We had a group of 5 adults & didn’t have long to wait before our drinks & food arrived. To top off the evening there was a live local acoustic band of 4 melodious singers to showcase some traditional songs as well as pop songs. Their instrument-playing, voices & harmonies were divine.

While we did not stay at the resort we were able to go to the pool bar and participate in the cultural dinner the resort provides. We met James the Manager who was very friendly and helpful. We also met Shadow the Duty Manager and Riki a bartender who provided us with wonderful tasty drinks. We also got to see a Uga demonstration. And we met several of the guests. It is a wonderful place with everyone welcoming us with big smiles. It is great that they open the resort for those of us not staying at the resort but able to enjoy the pool, bar and tavern. Well Done. Thank you for helping us have a fabulous vacation. Rob and Sue

Great place to stay, fresh different food everyday. Staff are really helpful and friendly, Shadow was awesome as the Barman at the pool bar. Deck overhangs the waters edge , this is a good spot to watch the sun go down. Overall this is the only place I would stay in Niue

Great location with shadows bar and pool looking over the clear niuean waters. great service and selection of drinks at pool bar with shadows doing some great happy hour specials and always up for a yarn. Awesome natural pools a short walk from accommodation

Wow amazing location and service was outstanding. Special thanks to Sala who looked after us so well. Room great, view outstanding from our deck. Everyone super friendly and island with crystal clear Bluewater just an around great holiday
