Abbaye de Talloires

We stayed at the Abbaye for two nights to celebrate a wedding anniversary and a special, milestone birthday and we were not disappointed. The setting is magnificent, right on the shores of the lake but very private and peaceful too. The restaurant tasting menu was incredible, as was the very extensive wine list. And the quirky spa on the top floor was an excellent place to chill out when the weather was not at its best. We will certainly be back soon!

Well worth a visit, this former Abbey converted to an upmarket hotel in the 19th century is a fantastic getaway for adults - quiet luxury in a perfect spot on the lake. We switched from the bustle of Annecy midway through our holiday for 3 days here. It did not disappoint, even thought eh weather was changing from warm sun to rain. The location is picturepostcard perfect, in a little town that is both smart and very clean. The hotel itself is cavernous, with large rooms, fine dining, a good breakfast and a decent spa. The staff are very helpful and friendly, from first parking your car to checkout. The balcony view from our room of the lake was fabulous, as was the large bed, the fast wifi, and the modern bathroom. We give the hotel 4 stars because facilities are not always open - which is unusual for an expensive 4 start hotel. The restaurant is not open Monday-Wednesday, and after breakfast is finished, there is only a bar to use. The spa is similarly open daytime hours. That said, there are several restaurants within easy walking distance, from Micehlin starred restauarants to traditional French bar/bistros. In summary, this is a great getaway for well-heeled adults in a fabuluos location.

What a stunning location and welcoming staff. We had a room with lake view - it was a little small with separate tiny toilet right next to the bed which was a little awkward. The restaurant was closed other than for breakfast and snacks 2 out of 3 days we were staying and very limited alternatives available in Talloires.

My husband I had the pleasure of staying at the elegant Abbaye in the summer of 2018 during the Abbaye’s 1000th anniversary, and we finally had the opportunity to return this summer to share a holiday with our daughter and her family. The enchanting grounds of the Abbaye offer such a special place full of classic luxury to relax and unwind, and it’s where we have enjoyed making lifelong memories.  We value the history and the luxurious sophistication of the relaxing lakefront atmosphere, offering a convenient walk into nearby Talloires. The Abbaye’s gracious staff are some of the best in the industry, and we appreciated many quality interactions with the Abbaye employees who are to be commended for their warm hospitality and professionalism. We truly appreciated the special attention we received from the proficient reception team before and during our stay: Mégane, Manon, Camille and Nathan, and at check-in from the friendly, engaging valet, Lucas; from our daily interactions with the magnificent Didier in dining service, to delicious drinks and boards served at the AT Bar by creative Aurélien and his staff, and to assistance from attentive Quinton for pontoon service; and much appreciation goes to the diligent housekeeping team, who carefully refreshed our chambre each morning and evening providing many amenities for our five night stay.
