A truly lovely stay at Basecamp Masai Mara to start our Kenyan safari trip. The tents were great, with a traditional feel and overlooked the Talek river. The food was lovely and the staff service really nice, this included setting up a candlelit fire pit dinner for my birthday. Just a short bridge crosses straight into the game reserve where you start most of the game drives. Our guide Jonathan was fantastic, his knowledge and awareness of the Mara was second to none, spotting animals from miles away and seeing things before they happened. His was so flexible on timings and when we did a hot air balloon he came to the landing site to pick us up and take us on a whole day game drive including a bush lunch. We would absolutely go out with him again. Overall, a delightful stay with some fantastic service and most of all an incredible guide!

Amazing safari experience with our very professional and caring guide and driver John. My sister and I were well looked after and saw everything and more due to his experience and patience. Shout too to staff at camp and our men taking us back and forth to tents . Andrew too in restaurant. Thank you basecamp

Basecamp was our last keg of our 2 week trip in Kenya. Accommodations and staff were good, kind and aimed to please. From the housekeeper who turned in our beds at night with a hot water bottle tucked in the sheets, to our meals by the camp fire as well as under the trees, we were well taken care of. Our safari guide, Bondi, gave us an incredible experience in the Maasai Mara. We traveled to the Tanzania, Kenya border where we had breakfast on the savannah and saw some awesome sights of many animals. Loved the African night meal where the Maasai gave us a memorable singing and jumping evening. Thank you!

We had a fabulous experience with John. He asked us what we wanted to see and then tailored our game drives to find the animals. He found us two leopards, a cheetah, multiple lions with cubs, plus numerous elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, gazelles that were wonderful to observe. The camp layout was great - right on the riverbank. Outstanding food - we highly recommend John and the entire staff.

An awesome camp experience. Kudos to manager Tonkei, who spent time telling us the genesis of the camp & making sure some repairs to one of their vehicles was fixed overnight. Creative & excellent food at every meal & our waiter Brian was most accommodating, going the extra mile to deliver food when I was under the weather. The standout, though, was our game drive guide John. He set out to find specific species on every drive & scored big time. He made sure everyone was “all good” at all times & was very knowledgeable about the animals. John helped us make lasting memories at every turn!

This was first class all around. Our villa has a huge living room and bedroom. The food is outstanding. Whenever you walk to your villa, day or night, there is a Samburu accompanying you. The guides are very skilled with spying wildlife. Today, I had coffee on the deck and saw a zebra, elephants, and a family of warthogs. Incredible

It's an oasis here. The camp is perfectly embedded in nature without destroying it (we had a tree in our tent growing through our bathroom, awesome!). Everything is clean and very well organized. The staff is so friendly! We felt right at home! The camp is perfectly located for exploring the beautiful Masai Mara. We'll be back, and we'll definitely stay at this beautiful camp again. Asante!

We stayed as a group of six friends for four nights and had a fantastic time. Our tents were well appointed and beautifully situated on the banks of the Talek river. Wildlife sightings started right away with Waterbuck, Baboon, and Topi all being seen in camp. All our meals were well above expectation and we thoroughly enjoyed the excellent service we received from our waiter, who looked after us so well and all the other staff who were so friendly. We really enjoyed the local singing at dinner one evening. We were guided by Tonkai who was most helpful and showed us some fantastic sightings on our twice daily safaris. As a keen photographer i appreciated that he would help us by getting into some great positions to get the best shot. Also recommended is a visit to the Enjoolata education centre situated in the camp.
