We stayed here for two nights whilst on a safari trip. The location is great here, to get to the Masai Mara reserve you just walk across a bridge and you’re there! This also means at night whilst in your tent you can see the animals across the river. The tents are comfortable and have everything you need, they felt very luxury. At night the team also put hot water bottles in your bed which is great. The staff were amazing. They walked us to our tents when it was dark and happily chatted and taught us about their culture. The waiter who served us our meals was really kind and friendly and enjoyed chatting to us. Food was great - on safari days they packed us a lovely packed lunch picnic and the evening meals were delicious. My only wish is that at night when it gets late the guards asked guests to keep noise down as we were kept awake quite late by some very noisy guests one night when we had an early start. I would recommend this place for sure to others - a great experience of the Masai Mara!

Saruni Basecamp Mara is a luxury eco camp located in the heart of the Maasai Mara National Reserve. Location - Situated along the Talek River in a lush forest, the camp has a serene atmosphere. Birds and monkeys live just outside the tents, all built along the banks of the river on the border with the national reserve. The camp's location allows you to see across onto the plains and watch zebras and topi in the distance. We were able to access the park by simply walking over a cable bridge across the Talek River to the land cruisers and immediately see animals. One day a giraffe was standing in the parking spot for the land cruiser when we got back to the camp. Camp - Our tent had an en-suite bathroom with hot water shower, comfortable king size bed with warm blankets and fluffy pillows and a private terrace. Enjoy the amazing wildlife from the comfort of your tent, or the fig-tree platform. Wildlife - The game drives were spectacular. Our guide Bandi and tracker, Louis, were excellent at locating wildlife and getting us in position for a great photo opportunity. I loved the open air dining room at the edge of the river where you could watch zebras come to drink, giraffes stroll by or the buffalo stare at you from across the river. Staff - The team who manage Basecamp Masai Mara are from the local community and are the proud landowners who benefit from tourism and conservation. The Camp Manager made it a point to be very available for any questions or issues. The staff was beyond gracious, friendly and helpful. When it was dark, you always had a Maasai warrior to escort you around as the camp is not fenced. I always felt very safe! In the evening there is a turndown service that provides hot water bottles when it is cool. They also handled our flight and transfers to and from the camp for a worry free stay. Recommend! Asante sana

Besides seeing all of the Big 5 animals & so much more, this place is wonderful! I loved that the dining room was open air at the edge of the river where you could watch zebras come to drink. Or watch the stately giraffes stroll by or the water buffalo stare back at you from across the river. The food was delicious & I liked the options that were offered. The staff was beyond gracious, friendly & helpful. When it was dark, you always had a Maasai warrior to escort you around as the camp is not fenced. I always felt very safe! The game drives were so much fun & our guide Bandy & tracker, Lewis were really good at getting you in position for that great photo opportunity.

Stayed at Basecamp Masai Mara with my adult daughter for 2 nights. Saruni (owning company) arranged transfer from Nairobi and then on to Leopard Hill (more intimate camp) and then to Saruni Samburu which was a couple of flights away but well worth it. Everything was excellent. Masai and Samburu guides were facsinating and very informative and staff was outstanding. Meals were included and very very good. They were happy to accommodate with substitutes. Game drives were outstanding. We saw all animals except Rhino. Beds and bathrooms were perfect. Your preference of water and drinks provided on game drives early mornings and evenings when animals are active. Had one breakfast and one lunch in the bush over a 6-day period. Went to Rhetiti Elephant Sanctuary in Samburu. A highlight. It was an expensive trip but we were well taken care of. The schedule was a little challenging with early mornings particularly because we didn't take extra days to rest before starting the safari (important). Transfers from Nairobi and to Samburu are in small planes leaving and landing in grass airstrips. Our one complaint was that we weren't aware of how many stops we'd have to make in the small planes before arriving in Masai Mara and to and from Samburu. Overall outstanding trip.

This is the first camp we stayed in during our first trip to Kenya. What an incredible experience. From our very warm greeting to our departure everything was amazing. The tent, the food and - all top notch and the incredible staff exceeded our expectations. The Masai Warriors who protected the grounds at night were so polite and available when needed. The wait staff was SO friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious and a nice variety. The managers were so friendly and always made sure we were happy. Our guide Dennis was the BEST!! We were lucky to have him for our stay at Base Camp and Eagle View. We always felt safe and had some incredible animal encounters. I saw one review of the tent being warm - well it's Africa and to be expected. Thank goodness for a nice cool shower (indoor and outdoor) in the evening. After staying at 2 of the properties that Saruni has, it is very obvious they care a lot about the land, the animals and their guests. I give them 10 stars. Thank you to EVERYONE who helped take care of us during our stay 2/15-25 and thank you to Eco Resorts for making all the arrangements. An absolutely amazing bucket list trip.

A Resort located within the Masai Mara Reserve. Tent based accommodation located along a river. They have a nice cable bridge to enter from one side. Food was average with poor serving services. Basic amenities like an electric kettle in room not available in room or on request. Tents become very very warm in afternoons especially in Feb/Mar. Could be run better if the management puts in some more efforts. Encountered some hygiene issues with crockery.
