The location is excellent, very close to the old street and the morning market. But the room is too small, there is no elevator, and it is very inconvenient to take a shower

The toilets are public and the bathing pool is public. About 2-4 people can share it at a time. It is a bit far from the station. There is no shuttle. The boss does not speak English. There is a clerk who can communicate in English. The service is okay.

This place was absolute amazing! By far our favorite place from our whole trip. The location was absolutely perfect for the Takyama festival. We were literally right there with shops and street vendors 50 yards away and the parades would have been right there as well if they weren't canceled due to rain. The rooms were humble and traditional and really added to the experience. The tea in the room was exceptionally good and the traditional Japanese breakfast they served was also delicious and fun to eat. We didn't even know they had a legitimate hot spring on site, but they did! They are Japanese style baths so be ready for that, but the water was therapeutic and so relaxing. I cant recommend this place enough and I would absolute make it a point to visit Takyama and stay here again for a few days on our next trip to Japan. They were such great kind hosts. And I cant believe the price, what an great value. Do yourself a favor and stay here. I'm not sure why the other bad reviews are here I read some of them and they sound like entitled stupid American tourists so ignore them and stay here.

Stayed two nights at this establishment. We were a bit surprised when we first got to the room. It was very sparsely furnished with a small table and some floor cushions. However you soon learn the mats, covered duvets and pillows were in a cupboard. There is a toilet on each floor that is shared and in the ground floor are communal single sex showers and a hot bath. It was a unique experience. The flood mattresses were okay but I found the pillows very hard. The location is very good for the morning market, and to see the sights. We didn’t eat there so can’t comment on that.
