Location was great. The room was okay it was comfortable. The sink did not drain well and there was a huge bug on the ceiling. It would of been nice to have been a bit closer to the lobby as we were kinda a hike away

Room was clean and adequate, but it is getting a little shabby and worn. A lot of the amenities on the website (like breakfast buffet or continental breakfast included are no longer offered, but they did not edit the website.

The staff is polite and caring. In short: I’d advise the hotel’s management or ownership to put this poor hotel out of its misery. Its glory days decades past.

An amazing, nostalgic property with friendly and kind staff. I have been here three times and every time is the best. The rooms are spacious, and the grounds fun to walk around. My favorite spot is the grove of trees outside the balcony rooms.

Do not stay here! It was a room to sleep in and barely serviceable for that purpose - thankfully that was all we were looking for. I was here for a conference about 30 years ago and remembered it being a nice place, if not five star. I thought it would be ok for a one night overnight during a move. It sadly was not. I guess there is a new owner that bought during COVID and is having difficulty getting the place updated. I really hope they get there, but the place should be shut down in its current state. The hotel was almost empty when we arrived - about 10 or 15 cars in the parking lot. The woman who checked us in was very nice, and was almost apologetic about the condition of the hotel. We should have known then. The hallways and room (at least our room on the second floor all the way at the back of the hotel) smelled strongly of mildew and mold and stale cigarette smoke. It was literally hard to breathe in the room. The room was ramshackle and the bathroom was barely serviceable. It was almost unbearable - if we were not exhausted from the first half of our move, a six hour traffic jam all the way from NJ to MA, and a big second day of moving coming up, we would have walked out. Honestly we should have - my wife barely slept and will be talking about this one for years! She told me she would have been better off just sleeping in the car and I agree. When we left the lady at the front desk took our keys - but did not ask us how our stay was. I'm sure she already knew the answer.

We stayed one night. The inside of the property is amazing. Not sure I have seen anything like that before. When you are in the upper level your balcony is overlooking the hall. That has a great venue place, pool and there was a DJ there the night we stayed so it was super fun sitting on the balcony listening to his sipping cocktails. Kids said pool was cold and the hot tub is removed. There is a small arcade with a couple of old games. The lake has a beach with sand but there is a lot of geese poop.
A few very hip restaurants nearby and ice cream places.
I would say this place has potential. The lady at the front desk told me they are renovating it but by bit. So give it some time and I thins place can be a great destination.

The most ******* Hotel I ever experienced!!! I have stayed in Salem Hawthorne... This hotel has history!!! It is powerful! It needs some pool renovation and to update that there is no hot tub. My child loved swimming and the rooms were beautiful. The fact that my child and I both experienced some spiritual activities were something to take home and write about. I domt see this hotel on the ******* hotels tours but at 1am... I was woken up.... By 5am me and my daughter were walking out the door packed!!! Hahaaaaaa

The hallway had old dirty microwaves and mini fridges parked outside of rooms. The room smelled like old stale funk. Mattresses n Box spring felt lumpy and box spring dingy holes. Lobby was neat and interesting.
But perhaps some other wings had
updated rooms. I got a hot rate of $100. But thought it would be a bit better than finding hairs on bedspread.
We didn’t shower got up and left asap.
