"On Father's Day, I traveled from Paris Gare de l'Est to a small border town, a two-hour journey. The town center is within walking distance of the train station. The spa features a jacuzzi, steam room, and dry sauna. The modern shower facilities before entering the pool were impressive, and the experience of alternating between torrential rain and light drizzle was quite interesting. They upgraded us to have a view of the canal, allowing us to see the waiting time before the boats boarded the stairs. The room was very large, including the foyer. The bed, although double, felt like a king-size bed. There was also a sofa bed. Getting an Uber required walking two blocks to reach a taxi. Most attractions are within walking distance. We took a taxi to the EU area, but since it was closed on Sundays, we checked it out on Saturday. At night, the centrally located hotel was bustling with travelers chatting late into the night. The hotel's own bar was right by the river, very lively."

"For business travelers, the hotel is conveniently located opposite the train station and about a 15-minute walk from the old town. The rooms are spacious, but the air conditioning's heating is only so-so. The bathroom facilities are adequate. The breakfast is average, and the service is acceptable."

Le Grand Hotel by Stay Collection

Le Grand Hotel by Stay Collection ★★★

📍 12 Pl. de la Gare, Strasbourg

"AVOID AT ALL COSTS as this hotel is not worth the money or trust from its guests. I stayed at Le Grand Hôtel Strasbourg from October 5–6, 2025 (Room 317). What happened that night was unacceptable for any hotel, let alone a three-star one. At around 2:00 a.m., I was abruptly awakened by loud knocking. The man outside refused to identify himself, only saying, “You called for something; I’m bringing it to you”. I hadn’t requested anything. He refused to give his name, and I couldn’t confirm who he was with no peephole. He then asked, “Are you a Chinese man in Room 317?” I am a Chinese woman travelling alone. When I said no, he replied, “Oh, maybe you exchanged rooms, or maybe someone made a joke” and left. I tried to call reception using the bedside phone, but it was broken. I then used my mobile to call the number on Google Maps; the same man answered, confirming only then that he was a hotel employee. He said a “Chinese man” had called asking for help, said he was in 317, and asked the receptionist to come because he had disabilities. Instead of verifying this request (which in the end turned to be from a guest in ibis hotel), receptionist simply checked the hotel system, read my full name aloud, assumed it was correct because it “looked Chinese”, and came knocking at 2 am. When I asked whether he confirmed the caller’s name, he said, “We don’t usually ask the names of our guests”. He also refused to tell me his own name. Only the next morning did the manager say his name was “Francis”. When I asked for his surname, she replied, “That’s the name he goes by here". This entire event shows serious failures in safety, professionalism, and privacy: -No night security protocol; staff knock on guests’ doors at 2 a.m. without verification. -Broken in-room phone and no peephole reflect clear safety risks. -The employee failed to confirm the caller’s identity. -He accessed and disclosed my full name aloud, a privacy violation. -His assumption that a Chinese name equals a Chinese man reveals racial and gender discrimination. -He tried to distribute the responsibility to me, someone woken up BY him, instead of apologizing. GOOD NEWS: The manager’s vague answer about his identity shows the hotel's good protection of personal privacy. It's just the privacy had nothing to do with its guests. Because of this, I spent the night feeling unsafe and could not sleep until 4 a.m. I have neurasthenia, and being awakened like this caused serious distress. The next morning, the reception manager admitted that proper protocol requires checking a guest’s name before approaching their room — meaning this employee ignored standard procedure entirely. She kept repeating, “this is the first time this has ever happened to us". This statement once again showed the amazing corporate culture of this hotel: distributing their responsibility onto innocent guest. She tried to make the incident seem as an isolated case rather than a systemic issue. But if their training were truly professionally standardised, such a mistake could never have happened. The whole thing WAS a systemic problem: poor staff training, lack of supervision, and disregard for privacy and guest safety. The hotel was unable to distinguish between internal and external calls, meaning they can’t verify where a call comes from. If the man at my door had not been an employee, I would have had no way to protect myself. Guests deserve safety, transparency, and respect — not fear, negligence, and discrimination. Until this hotel takes responsibility and implements real safety measures, there will still be danger of another guest being disturbed at 2 am, there will still be invasion of privacy by its staff, and there will still be chances of wasting your money only to get no rest over night and mental distress."

LÉONOR the Place to Live by Stay Collection ★★★★

📍 11 Rue de la Nuée-Bleue, Strasbourg

"Pros: The hotel is in a good location, 15 minutes walk from the train station and not far from the city center. Cons: The sanitation is poor, and there are a lot of long golden hair from the previous guest in the bathtub. Although it is a new hotel, the facilities are relatively simple, the floor creaks, and the whole room vibrates when the door next door is opened and closed. The front desk is relatively cold. In general, it is the grade of a domestic express hotel, not a luxury hotel as the hotel claims."

"Nicely located best the train station and with the city center 10 minutes by foot. The hotel itself could use some renovation, it seemed old but okay for a short stay. As for the room, at first I was offered a wheelchair room, which had small windows, twin beds, was not cozy at all, and also lacked shower chair. So I asked to be provided with a superior studio that I initially booked :) The room was spacious, with double bed, mini kitchen, washing machine, fridge, dishes and some kitchen utensils. It was enough for a short stay. The one thing that surprised me was that toilet and bathroom were separated in different corners of the apartment: toilet at the entrance door, and bathroom next to the bed, so you need to turn around three corners to wash your hands 🤪 But the staff was helpful and overall I was satisfied with my stay. Thanks!"

"The hotel is luxurious, very conveniently located, with beautiful furniture, a comfortable bathroom, and Russian-speaking staff (we are very grateful and appreciative of Shamil's help and care). The only downside was our departure. We checked out on May 26, 2026, at 1:41:32 AM. The manager started demanding a second tourist tax payment, as we'd paid €24 upon arrival and, since we'd checked out early, the tax was €15.84. Instead of refunding the overpayment, they insulted us in a raised voice, almost causing us to miss the bus. We were also surprised to learn that we had to pay a €100 deposit for each day of our stay; this wasn't disclosed when we booked the hotel."

"Nice little hotel. Is generally clean and not sketchy, but they could’ve taken more care about the mold in the bathroom, which was a little disappointing. Enough to spend the night but would necessarily do again. Average Hotel at average price."

"Quick check in, Nice entrance, good location. Pillow, bedding are comfy! Room in good size. Quiet and modern design where I can have good rest especially I was feeling unwell! However. More improvement on staff training! 1) The hotel could inform us earlier to let us know the city centre is blocked for the Xmas market. 2) Instead of just passing me the city map, the Reception could have share more information about the city, and Christmas market info. 3) Housekeeping took more than an hour to send over amenities. Finally sent over after follow up call. 4) Housekeeping knocked my door at 10:30am despite I have my DO NOT DISTURB sign hang on my door. After I opened, the lady asked when am I leaving, ask their manager asked her to check on me. I was puzzled as I understand the check out time af 12noon, and I was right! I found this extremely ridiculous to knock the guest door with the sign hanging, for the sake of knowing when they can clean the room!!?? 5) Arrived on a Sunday, walked into the restaurant. No one serving or trying to ask for your need. After my approach, they only provide snacks/light eats. A la carte not available. Disappointing! 6) There was a person waiting near the hotel entrance at night time, yell at you for asking for money, and being rude if you don’t support. Overall, the hotel itself is nice! Need better management!"
