Castanea Old Town Hostel

Perfectly located for Gamla Stan and access to other parts of the city. So easy to walk! If using Uber, there are a couple of drop off points in Gamla Stan, so you have to walk to or from one of those. One dropoff is by the castle and very close to Castanea. We were on the bottom floor. The outside door has a code, and then there is another locked door with a code to enter where the rooms are. Our room was very comfortable, and we enjoyed being able to have the window open. Quiet prevailed the entire time we were there. The room, the bathroom, and the shower room were all very clean. The hostel staff helped us get the room we needed by contacting them directly, and because we had troubles, the towel fee was dropped! They were also willing to help with an encounter we had. I appreciated how kind and helpful they were. The restaurant next door no longer gives hostel guests a discount for breakfast, and they have a very limited menu for breakfast. Panem is just a few blocks away and has many options though. I highly recommend this hostel and its staff.

This hostel is located in a very nice area. The rooms are clean too. But unfortunately I do not recommend this place at all and if you care about your dignity I suggest you choose somewhere else. Although the staff were ok, but the behavior of the owner completely ruined my experience there. I had never experienced such a rude and disrespectful behavior anywhere else just to give a reminder to a guest about something he clearly did not know or simply missed. I even complained to the staff about her behavior and, without any apologies, they emphasized the fact that she is the owner of this place.

This was a very cozy place for us. lots of nice and chill people there, played games at night and hung out. It was a nice place to stay. We were able to go in the room a bit earlier even. In a beautiful spot pf the old town centre pf stockholm!
