"The room is more pleasant than the picture! The large floor-to-ceiling windows are facing the evening and leaning on the lazy sofa to watch the sunset. Even the breathing is slowed down. The bedding is soft like a cloud. I usually recognize the bed and sleep until dawn. Even the air conditioning wind is adjusted to the right place. Breakfast is better. There is hair on the ground."

"The Berkeley is doable but not what is presented in media and marketing. Flower beds need to be tended to as you approach. Furniture inside is worn. Our room, though tidy and mattress comfortable, was in desperate need of a thoughtful refresh. I noted Visual Comfort lighting here and there but everything else around the upscale lighting was simply drab. Heads up, I’m an interior designer if you ever want to hire me. The Berkeley has enormous potential. I’d bring the old girl back to her glory."

The Historic Inn at Oakdene
"We spent 2 nights at the Oakdene Inn. Our room was on the 3rd floor in the Governor's Suite. The room was spacious and the large circular shower with two rain shower heads was structurally part of the turret roof as seen on the right side of the house from the street. The room was bright. The selection of coffee, teas, and packaged snacks were appreciated. The dual rain shower heads were unique, but only one furnished hot water. Based on the darker grout on the working shower it appears the one on the left is never used and produced only cold water. When we arrived there were multiple dead flies on the floor especially in the bathroom. The next day we asked the cleaning person to take care of them and she did. The circular hand towel holder in the bathroom came off the wall with our first use of it. The set screw was not properly engaged beneath the bracket. I emailed or texted requesting a second luggage rack and was told there were none available. There were rooms in the Inn that were not booked. The electric outlet next to the bed was the new type with a USB port and a C type port for charging a phone. The bedside lamp was plugged into one outlet and the WiFi booster was plugged into the other. The plug for the WiFi booster was so large that a USB cable could not be used. No breakfast is served at the Inn. The towels are 40% Viscose. Paying over $400/night is excessive. I hope the owners will take a more hands on approach and correct some of the problems we had."

"We recently were there with family and close friends for a wedding. For the whole weekend, the place was ours. We were treated like special guests. From Friday evening rehearsal and dinner through Sunday a.m. brunch, staff went out of their way to make sure all went well. This included rolling with some changes in plans caused by weather and COVID concerns. I think they genuinely wanted us to have the best experience possible. I think all would agree that we did."
