"I was originally planning to visit Hachijojima, but my flight was canceled on the day of departure, so I ended up heading to Izu Oshima instead. Looking for a place to stay at the last minute, I found KON and booked it based on its excellent reviews.
From the moment I arrived, the hospitality was outstanding. The owner picked me up at the port with a sign, shared information about the island during the drive, and even stopped at scenic spots so I could take photos.
I stayed in the main building, and the room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The tatami mats had recently been replaced, giving the room a wonderful fresh scent. The property was well-maintained, well-equipped, and had a nostalgic countryside atmosphere that made it easy to relax.
There are several restaurants nearby, including a great ramen shop and a sushi restaurant called Minato sushi by the harbor that I highly recommend.
One unexpected highlight was discovering the manga in the room. The title was Kore Kaite Shine, which is set on Izu Oshima. I learned that the author often stays at KON, and the protagonist’s home was reportedly modeled after the guesthouse itself.
What started as an unexpected change of plans turned into a fantastic stay. The warm hospitality, comfortable accommodations, and unique local charm made this a memorable experience. I would gladly stay at KON again on my next visit to Izu Oshima."
