Boho Hostel

Boho is for sure the best hostel in Matla. First i booked 4 nights at the boho hostel, but I extended for 3 nights (total of 7) because boho already felt like home. It was really cheap, the rooms and bathrooms where clean, the staff was really friendly and the atmosphere was really good. Also made some friends here. It was my first solo travel and the boho hostel was a really good place to stay. After spending the day alone in the city or the beach, boho was a place to come home to. Enjoy a beer with fellow travelers, lay in a hang mock or just chill in the garden.

Travelled Europe for just over a month and can say Boho was my favourite hostel of the trip. Nesta knows everything you would ever need to know about the place and is super helpful... he is also very quick on the beer orders :)) Top notch bloke! Penny is super kind too and the most wonderful host to have. She's a local so she knows her stuff (listen to her promise you won't regret it!) In terms of the accomodation, it feels like a big house, rooms are clean and all you need, in summer I appreciate it gets hot and air con would have been the final tick but you pay for what you get. I think the outside space in the gardens, the included kitchen, living area and the many chill spots including hammocks etc outside far outweigh it. The people are the real reason you go here, I have met so many wonderful people as a solo traveller and I strongly suggest parking up on the front couches watching the little lizards run by until you inevitably get dragged out with a crew of other travellers to the local beach, bar or restaurants! (do all three to really give justice to your Malta visit) Truely a life changer for me (which sounds cliche I know) but after the hustle and bustle of the other cities I went to it was the perfect mix of chill and social. 10/10 Boho, give Nesta a raise and ill give 11/10 next time Ethan from Oz, don't forget to stay at Boho!

Me and my brother came to Malta for 4 nights and absolutely loved our stay at Boho! The staff are 10/10, so attentive and genuinely lovely people. Such a safe and comfortable atmosphere , would feel more than happy to stay here as a solo female. Only downside is the large hill up to the hostel however the whole of Malta is hilly so expect nothing less. Thank you for the great holiday!

Wonderful hostel, in a nice location with lovely staff and atmosphere. The hostel mascot (Steven) is a lovely and sweet cat, would recommend staying at Boho for relaxed evenings after exploring Malta, (in my case rock climbing)

I don’t like writing negative reviews, but I feel obligated to in this case to warn other travelers. For context, I’ve been traveling full time for nearly 5 years and have stayed in hostels in 50+ countries ranging from South America to Europe and SE Asia. My experience at Boho unfortunately ranks among the worst I’ve had anywhere. I booked 4 nights in the dorm room here. Long story short, it was completely impossible to sleep due to the stifling heat in the room. There was only one fan working in the room which wasn’t sufficient at all for cooling the space. Keep in mind, my stay was in early October so I can only imagine the situation during summer time. I checked out immediately the next day and was refused a refund for the remaining nights unless they were able to sell the bed space to someone else. I’m sure this review will elicit the standard response from management that this is a “budget hostel” and that’s why the conditions are so deplorable. But I’ve stayed in many other places in a similar price range in Europe that do a much better job with managing the heat. At the very least, a refund should have been offered, but the owner seems determined to squeeze every last dollar out of guests. Very unfortunate.

Boho hostel is much more than a hostel - during my time in Malta it has become a home. I would have never thought that living with more than 20 people would be so pleasant, but the big garden and living room allow for enough space for some me-time when needed, which is very seldom as the travellers and long-term guests living here are some of the kindest, most fun and most friendly people I have ever met. Of the many hostels I have seen, Boho is definitely one of the best ones - there is always someone interesting to talk to, someone playing the guitar in the garden, someone cooking nice meals to share. In general, the atmosphere is very peaceful and harmonious. The rooms and shared spaces are cleaned daily, there is a washing machine and a big kitchen, the owner Penny can give you lots of information on which places to visit, and Cat Stevens is always happy to get some cuddles. All in all, in my opinion the best hostel in Malta.
