Stravithie Castle

Booked a last minute stay at Stravithie Castle and absolutely loved it! It is situated a ten minute drive from the lovely St Andrews where there’s so much to see and do. Lots of lovely restaurants, bars and shops. Some beautiful buildings and lots of history. We really enjoyed the atmosphere in the castle from the moment we arrived. David and Renata who live in the castle were perfect hosts, so friendly and helpful. Our accommodation was more than a bedroom, we had a suite! Large lounge and bedroom with a kitchen and shower room. It was decorated and furnished in keeping with a castle and very clean. Lovely fresh sheets on the huge comfortable bed. The views down to the river were gorgeous. Breakfast was continental and more than adequate. It was left for us in our kitchen each morning and we enjoyed the fact we could eat at any time in peaceful surroundings. It was very quiet as the road is a short distance away. Lovely grounds for a little walk and seats in the garden if you’re fortunate enough to have good weather. It was quite a unique experience staying in the castle instead of a hotel and we thought it was good value. We’d definitely stay again if visiting St Andrews. Thank you David and Renata!

If you want a unique hotel experience this is a fantastic real ancient interesting property in a very quiet rural location. We had a spacious apartment, large bedroom with king size bed, large sitting room with period furniture to match the setting - with mod cons flat screen TV and wi-fi - also small kitchen with all the requirements for a continental breakfast including chilled items in a fridge and bathroom with shower. The property is surrounded by large garden areas and woodland with a stream running through it. The hosts David and Renatta were very pleasant and helpful, taking our luggage to our room and giving us the required info for our apartment and a brief history of the castle. The castle is a short drive from St Andrews, as the castle is not signposted the host David will send you detailed directions. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Stravithie Castle and would highly recommend the experience.

What a delightful place! The house and grounds are beautiful, our room was very spacious and comfortable. It’s about a 10 minute drive to St Andrews.
