We checked in around 8:30 pm after a long journey from Canada and found that the kitchen was closed at 8 pm. Really disappointed! Anyhow, staff are friendly and helpful, room is cozy, breakfast is great. After checking out and got to our airbnb, my husband unpacked his suitcase and realized that he left his Tshirt in the room. We called and to our surprise we were told it was not there! How could that be? If it happened in Italy, we would be okay but this was at the pub hotel in little hamlet in Yorkshire!

Utterly shocking food and service! Nothing more needs to be said. The steaks were just inedible... fish was squidgy and smelt of...well...fish that had been in the fridge for too long! When my mother mentioned that her fish was a bit out of date, the waitress just said, well, speak to the manager then! We just paid and left. Never again!

Second time we have stayed here.
Ate in the evening and had breakfast. The staff were very good and friendly and the food was excellent.
We actually stayed in the same room on both occasions, was like going down memory lane.
Would definitely stay again, if in the area.

2 night stay
It was a very nice stay. Excellent service from the staff and food was also excellent. Modern decor throughout which was excellent. The only thing we noticed was the minor finishing touches ie snagging.

Stayed here for two nights whilst attending a nearby wedding. Staff were ultra helpful, including helping take luggage up the stairs. Room was clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. Breakfast was good, and Lucy who served us deserves a special mention. It should be noted that this is a beautiful old building, with stairs only to second floor accommodation. There was some low level noise from an adjoining room, but nothing that kept me awake. The room had everything we needed, including tea and coffee, wi-fi, iron etc.

This was advertised as 'exceptional' but whilst it was a lovely location with nice food and friendly and helpful staff, I had a few issues. The most disappointing was the late start for the breakfast which was served from 8am, but this was only pointed out on arrival. I missed breakfast as I had to leave at 7:30am. The shower was not working and the EV charging point failed to work. This was my experience and is only highlighted for future customers.
