The Palms Resort

They need to get rid of the roaches There was one in my bed which caused me not to sleep well

This is not a non-smoking resort. It falsely advertises that it is. I needed a non-smoking hotel as advertised and got a hotel where there was so much cigarette smoke that it made me sick despite running multiple air cleaners. The second floor is better than the first. Less foot traffic. The A/C sucks smoke into the rooms of anyone smoking on the walkway on the first floor. Smoke also comes from one side of the resort to the other and into the rooms. On the first floor, foul fumes also came out of the drain in two rooms. In the room next to me the bathroom ceiling fell down on another party's first night and they fled. They let me take a picture which I have. I also left early. The resort has a nice location. But the false advertising makes it a misery for anyone with lung, airway issues or asthma. When raising the plumbing fumes or other issues with the manager - she would just say well it's an old property. They should advertise it that way, "It's old". But that's not how they sell it to us. The majority of staff is mediocre, with one or two positive exceptions. The manager is nice, but she doesn't always follow through. The owner does not seem competent. His wife was nice. I was moved to a supposedly clean room and she cleaned a huge dead cockroach and grime out of the light fixture in the bathroom. It is a fantastic beach location. Being pet friendly is a plus. Having a fridge is a plus. The TV cable only worked part of the time. The rooms that had landline phones only work sporadically. The electricity went out while I was there- but that might have been an island thing. The internet also went out. They claim to have a 24-hour desk- but that is also false. The parking is challenging. The pool area is nice- but also smoking. The landscaping is nice. I understand it has changed hands several times. It needs professional management/ownership, basic plumbing repairs and truth in advertising.

Overall, the place was clean, quiet, and had a friendly staff. The cafe had the best Margarita my gf has ever had, and the food was awesome. However, the lone bed was hard, small (full size, I think), and had an old-school spring mattress that sunk in such a way as to cause the lighter of two occupants to sink onto the heavier user’s side. The water was extremely hot, and the parking lot was tiny and difficult to get out of, as it was a dead end lot that required full sized cars to back out of for the entire length of it. Also, the pool is right next to the outdoor dining area, making it a bit uncomfortable to use. Price, staff, food, and proximity to the beach made it worthwhile, though.

Great location and friendly staff. Room is small but very clean and comfortable. The restaurant has great food and service.

Just steps from your room to the beach, room was good, AC excellent, bed and bedding really upgraded, bathroom, would be better if they change the toilets but otherwise small but adequate. Room had a separate living area. Overall a bit Rustic, with the best location to go to the beach, no long hallways or elevators, just steps to the beach. Restaurant was good!

Great Resort This is the second year that we have stayed here at Palms Resort , love the convenience that this place offers hope skip and a jump to the beach , great restaurant in the back with great food.Rooms are clean .
