The Lodge Lobby is beautiful and in a wonderful location to Roughlock Falls and Spearfish Falls. The rooms are a bit shabby and worn. The linens are acceptable, but our bedspread was dusty and could use being replaced. The towels were great! We ate dinner at their restaurant The Latchstring, on the premises, which was very good. Their breakfast was nothing memorable.

We originally had a room opposite the ice machine which was very noisy. Luckily we were able to change rooms. However neither room had a great view or balcony and which was a shame. We did sleep well and the rooms are very comfortable. Weather was a little drab so we didn't make the best of the location. Note - no lifts so we had to heave big bags upstairs. The main reception area is very nice and the evening meal in the restaurant opposite we very good.

Was able to stay in a room that was updated in 1960. Done wasting my time leaving reviews for this place. Have warned people in my cicle not to stay here. Customer service is someone telling you, "no it's our policy" or my favorite "all sales are final" which means you can't return anything or exchange an item. It's easy to misrepresent items on the phone and we fell victim to that. Honestly believe you would be better served staying at a Super 8. Will never be back. For the next year, my mission is to keep people away from this "resort".

Great fun experience, attentive staff, safety first! Beautiful landscape. Must see Cement Ridge. We were a large group of 18 and the staff was very accommodating. We rode a 4-seater & took turns driving. Bring face covering for under your helmet and a change of clothes for after the ride, dust is mighty! The premises and the lodge is beautiful. Highly recommend.

This is the 4th time we have stayed here through the years and the accommodations are increasingly less appealing compared to our past visits. The security lock on our door is missing yet the holes are there. The TV is hung on the wall with electric lines dropping everywhere. Our beside table is miniature and barely holds anything (obviously they have replaced this item for some reason with an inadequate substitute.) It seems that we must be in an older room as the rustic lumber furniture that we have experienced in our other visits is not what we are experiencing this visit...that's disappointing as that is one of the things we loved most about our rooms. The beds are comfortable. Attention to detail is missing unlike in the past. Things simply aren't being kept as well as they should be considering the price of our stays. Unfortunately this will be our last stay but the canyon is exquisite and the Roughlock falls are beautiful. The staff was friendly and accommodating.

Rustic lodge in a beautiful setting, Spearfish Canyon. Service was spectacular. Very clean and accommodating. Has an excellent restaurant, Latchstring and UTV rentals next door. Has 3 different walking trails just outside the lodge that lead to breathtaking natural sites including water falls and rapids. Trails are accessible for most people. There are handicap accessible rooms on the first floor, which is important because the lodge does not have an elevator. The lodge has a spacious main lobby with welcoming seating and a huge fireplace. There is a full service bar with bistro type eats in the main lobby with attached outdoor seating. A very cozy and relaxing lodge!

only have praise for Spearfish Canyon Lodge. It is a perfect hotel in a perfect setting. The rooms do not lack anything. (Except a safe deposit box). They are comfortable, clean, with thoughtful touches (welcoming teddy bear, excellently thought out information binder). The staff could not be more pleasant. You can go in one of the hikes or just sit and read while listening to the gurgling brook. The lobby/sitting area is delightful with its crackling fireplace a welcome touch on chilly nights. And you will always have a good meal at their restaurant across the road, The Latchstring Famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright was one of the canyon’s biggest proponents, touting its “unique and unparalleled” beauty and describing it as “even more miraculous” than the Grand Canyon. We only had one regret- that we couldn’t stay longer.

One of the greatest places to stay in the Black Hills. The decor is fabulous!!!!!!!! You are treated like royalty. The rooms are spacious, clean, and with great views. We feel spoiled when we stay here. No matter what time of the year you go it's wonderful.

The lodge is in a beautiful setting and the lodge itself is also beautiful. The staff are helpful and friendly. The rooms are clean and well appointed. The bed was comfortable. Complimentary bathrobes are provided. The art work on the walls is appropriate for the setting but it is also (mostly) for sale, which is a nice touch. There are outdoor seating areas and hammocks and a couple of hot tubs. There is a bar in the lodge and a gift shop. Several trails start on the property or nearby, including the trail to Roughlock Falls. The only possible suggestion for improvement would be that the fan did not do a great job of cooling the room when the temp was too low for the air conditioning.
