We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Lovely grounds are well manicured with nice green grassy yard, flower pots, hammocks, picnic table, and corn hole right on Spearfish Creek with trailheads to two waterfalls accessible from the Lodge. These are lovely walks with wildflowers and little foot bridges. We used the UTV trailheads and the UTV and fishing gear rentals available across the road-convenient and easy. The Lodge itself has an inviting great room with a fireplace, comfy chairs, and tables with games and puzzles available. It was a pleasant, family friendly environment and we enjoyed conversing with other guests as well as morning complimentary coffee by the fireplace. The room was a clean and comfortable ordinary hotel room. The location is right on the scenic highway, not too far from Lead and about ten minutes from Cheyenne Crossing. If you have accessibility issues, ask about options before reserving because there was not an elevator to the second floor.

Went to check in At Lodge was told the room was still Dirty! How about , your room is not ready instead? Went to bar for a drink, ordered A Bloody Mary, Tasted horrible, told bartender It didn’t taste good, she proceeded to tell me how it’s her own recipe! Ok fine I’ll have a different drink! Checked in room, nice enough but, toilet was dirty, the cheap plastic shower head was a joke, so much calcium build up , the water would barely come out!, also the tub would not drain in a proper time! The family above us, kept us up both nites and early morning. Called the front desk, numerous times to tell them to stop making noise! Every time the people above us would flush their toilet, we would hear the water coming down the pipe inside the wall! Upon checkout all we got was ,sorry, sorry,sorry ! Horrible customer service! Look for my review on their Restarant , The Latchstring, you won’t believe it!

We stayed in their only cabin as we prefer cabins to a lodge. It was advertised as secluded. We paid extra money to stay there thinking it would be special. What a disappointment when we pulled up and it was right next door to their UTV rentals. (We had to park in their lot as only specified place for us.) Also the cabin was where 3 roads meet so lots of cars, motorcycles and UTVS were always driving by. Was like sitting in a fish bowl if sitting on the deck. Not relaxing at all. We had very little WiFi or internet coverage . Not good when your home team is playing football . Couldn’t even listen to it! The cabin was very cute. Had a couple small issues but location was the biggest complaint for us. Spearfish Canyon is a beautiful area and the restaurant there was very good. Cabin just not what we expected.

If you’re looking for peace and quiet in a beautiful setting, Spearfish Canyon Lodge is for you. We had a queen premier room on the first floor, and it was nice in the evening to open our screened window to hear the creek and let cool, fresh air inside. The room was incredibly clean, and we had zero issues to report. The only “could be better” I would report is the toilet; it is VERY low to the ground. The water is soft at the lodge which I read some complaints about (that’s not a lodge issue. It’s how the water is.) The lodge is QUIET. The staff is super helpful and friendly. They truly went above and beyond for us on our stay including calling our first night there to make sure we were settled in. The restaurant across the street is wonderfully delicious (the Mountain Man Pasta was my favorite.) We enjoyed sipping coffee (served in the lobby) out on the rocking Adirondack chairs overlooking the canyon walls. The parts everyone cares about: Parking was a breeze Spearfish Falls Trail is right across the street Room was incredibly clean Bathroom toilet was really low Location was perfect and quiet Price can’t be beat I have added this lodge to my list of places to visit annually.

This isn’t a five star resort so don’t expect that. The rooms are comfortable, bathrooms just fine, wifi workable. Great scenic location with easy hikes right out the front door. The restaurant next door is also pretty good - especially since it’s the only restaurant around. You’ll have to drive down the canyon road to Spearfish if you want something different. Breakfast next door is also appealing. Great lobby, bar, and friendly gift shop. We stayed two nights and loved it.

The lodge is a good location for seeing the falls and doing hikes as well as renting ATV's. The rooms are in need of renovations. There is no cell phone service. Don't plan to be in any hurry if you are eating at the restaurant next door, as the service was very poor and very slow. The grounds are beautiful here , and the close waterfalls are a very short hike.

You can’t beat another lodge
This place is ALWAYS a rememberable experience! We just love Spearfish Canyon Resort and the drive into and from. You literally cannot beat the experience… I kid you not! Only wish - more food/munchie options after 9pm.

The lodge was in a beautiful location surrounded by wildlife. Staff did not provide a ground floor room as requested for my elderly parents which made for a long week.

Wonderful place, we'll be back
It was an amazing experience! The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Very knowledgeable about the trails and hiking spots. We arrived early to park and take our side by side for the day. They allowed us to that, helpful telling us where to park. There is an up scale restaurant across from the lodge with an amazing view off the back. On the second floor they offer hot tubs .. which were a big hit with the kids. The water falls around there are stunning
