Chose this hotel for the location and the fact it looked great from the photos. However :
There was a bad smell in the room which we couldn’t identify. TV was missing cables, coffee machine had no coffee, sink would not drain and hairdryer was faulty - the phone in the room can only accept calls and you can’t call out so we had to go to reception in minus temperatures to log the issues.
In hindsight I would have spent a bit more and chosen another hotel, wouldn’t recommend this as an option if you’re in the area.

Would not recommend staying here unless you want to support a business that allows bears to eat trash at night, which leads to bears becoming habituated and having to be euthanized (see recent news articles in Tahoe about a sow with cubs who is slated to be killed). As we were unloading our luggage around 10pm, a bear knocked over a trash can in the covered parking area and began eating trash from it, about 15ft from us. We called the front desk and they said "this happens every night." We asked if they could secure the trash; he said he'd put in a request with maintenance. When we asked the woman at the front desk about it the next morning, she said they empty the trash in the evening but people still throw things away afterwards. There is a very simple solution: buy and exclusively use bear-resistant trash cans, or ensure that all trash cans are brought inside by dusk. Post signs in parking areas to educate visitors about keeping food out of cars, away from bears. Every business in bear country has a social responsibility to help keep wildlife wild- please do your part.

$299/night (not including taxes)not worth the money.Room was so hot we had to leave for few hours hoping outside air from windows would cool down the room as both us & staff couldnt get AC to work.Next day,heater wouldnt work during a storm. A floor fan they leave in the room is a warning sign that maybe AC doesn't work often. No offer to discount us or switch rooms. Inside door of bathroom and floorboard had paint coming off.The room was clean and bed was comfortable though.

We enjoyed our time in South Lake Tahoe. Nice place to visit. We are not gamblers so we still enjoyed our time there. Beautiful scenery and the weather was very pleasant.

Had never been to Basecamp but would go back again. Great experience. Room was clean and well stocked. Pleasant folks in the office. Brewery and music were great. Were there for the Tedeschi Trucks show at the venue across the street. Loved the short walk to the show.

Hipster vibe, fun beer garden, smores, cute decor- limited options in coffee shop- nonexistent parking and bears on the property! Comfy bed. Construction across the street- beach close.
