We arrived late, but made it to dinner. The lodge has air conditioning, we turned it on for heat (it's very cold in the evenings). The linen is clean, fresh, there's hot water, a kettle with water. We liked everything very much. Wonderful grounds with well-groomed plants, unfortunately the photos won't load. We stayed for 1 night, on the way from Walvis Bay to Sossusvlei. Unusual old cars on the grounds, a bakery with famous strudels - it's better to spend at least a full day!

Wonderful place in the desert!
Wonderful lodge in the desert. Very friendly staff, very clean. Rooms have AC. The property has a gorgeous pool and the property is well maintained. The wifi is sluggish, and rooms to not have a refrigerator to keep items cool, however the kitchen bar staff had offered to put a few items in their fridge, however- you need to go there and ask them to hand it to you. It's not a self-serve fridge.

Very basic, no toiletries in the room or hairdryer. Beds ok for 2 nights. Food touch and go, had fish cakes but they were still cold in the middle, they were refried. Schnitzel ok but tough. Pool very small, but it is the desert! Lots of house rules, like cant eat own food in room or beer they charge corkage. Drive to sossusvlei 2hours!

This review is regarding the camping facilities associated with the lodge. - the campsites were wide, open sandy campsites (some with roofed / covered facilities) -wildlife such as jackals, oryx and mongoose were spotted -toilet block was very dark at night -Good bar with great coffee with sofas and a large patio -nice for sundowners (likely the best sunset on our entire vacation) -fast Wifi -there is a close store (gas station) with snacks, just a short walk outside the camp -there is also a watering hole just beyond the bar that attracted oryx during our visit -you are able to use the pool which has several loungers -the pool is very small

We spent two nights on a small group tour with GeoTours. The rooms were spacious with comfortable beds. The registration and restaurant staff were very friendly. Their onsite bakery has the best cinnamon rolls and apple pie. A pool was available but we did not use it. Our scheduled tours to the cheetah conservancy and desert did not allow enough free time in the area. Definitely recommend staying at this lodge!

We hadn't originally intended staying in Solitaire, but rescheduling issues meant we slotted this lodge in at the last minute. I hadn't been optimistic about what we'd find - after all, Solitaire is a small, very remote place. But I was pleasantly surprised. The staff were very friendly and helpful; the rooms comfortable, a good size and in excellent condition; the restaurant area is terrific and the food very good; the surroundings are quite charming, with a scattered collection of old cars. Highly recommended if you need a stopover before or after visiting Sossusvlei.
