Barceló Maya Beach - All Inclusive

I stayed at the Hotel Maya Beach. The entire Barceló complex is impressive, offering a wide range of activities and spaces to enjoy a holiday. However, the hotel itself falls short in terms of food quality and service. The food was not of good quality, and although there were themed restaurants, the same food was served from the buffet. Our room had a clogged bathtub, and the hand towel was not replenished. As for the staff, overall, we experienced poor service at the buffet and the pool bar. We were often ignored, sometimes waiting for over five minutes while staff remained in the storage area chatting amongst themselves. The only noteworthy service we received was at the Santa Fe restaurant, where Inovel Arcos provided an experience truly deserving of a five-star hotel.

Although we had a rough start with service and our issues with our room the supervisor on duty esther morales was very kind and more than helpful to rectify our situation . She was kind and courteous to understand the problems we were facing when it came to our concerns . I hope barcelo hotels can go back to the golden days when it was once a powerhouse . I think the food can be better and I know the servers at the buffets work very hard to serve the guests but sometimes its been a hit or miss . I want to give my thanks to esther morales and her staff for helping us and I hope I can return to barcelo sometime in the future . The beach is fantastic as we saw many different fish in the water . It was a great day and we have a few days left in our trip. That being said I am extremely greatful to senora morales and the barcelo maya beach staff for their efforts and hard work to helping guests such as ourselves.

Second time to the Barcelo resort and again no disappointments, we just love everything about it well almost except our room was a bit outdated but kept very clean. . Forget the La Cart restaurants you don't need them the food in the buffets are fantastic with a huge variety every day. Two buffets and bars right at the beach if you enjoy staying under palm trees in a long clean beach all day drinking Margaritas or go into the pools just across between the bars. If your a sailor go book a free hobby cat in the morning for a windy afternoon sail or get a mask and snorkel and see the plentiful fish in the reef by the beach. Two double decker buses every twenty minutes to travel the huge resort to different restaurants or to the resort Plaza for free bowling or mini golf. Nightly entertainment with shows every night. There is always something to do or see. And lastly a warm heart felt Thank You to The Manager on Duty ; Lizzete Gutierrez, You are amazing with your help finding my cell phone. Sorry no pictures to show just memories.

We checked in today, and from the very first moment, everything went downhill. What should have been a smooth arrival turned into a frustrating ordeal. This was our honeymoon vacation and it got ruined. Check-in took forever - over 45 minutes – and there were only 2 or 3 families ahead of us. The staff moved at a glacial pace, and the employee who handled our registration, Jessica Ortiz, was rude. She gave us attitude. Not the warm welcome you expect from a supposed 5-star all-inclusive. When we finally got to our room, it was not what we expected. Yes I knew the furniture would be outdated but I didn’t expect to see pink lipstick stain on one of the pillows, and the bedsheets had brown stains. There was only 1 tiny peanut snack for two people. We had to keep calling for more water. And had to ask for toiletries as that was not provided. Majority of 5 star hotels would provide that. Seems like Barcelo Maya has been cheaping out big time. And make matters worse, the electrical circuit in the room kept tripping 3-4 times during the night, leaving us in darkness. Unacceptable for a resort charging premium prices. The food situation was the final straw. I saw a lady digging through a stack of tortillas with her bare hands and long fake nails, flipping through them like she was looking for something – completely unsanitary. Then, right in front of me, another guest grabbed food with her bare hands from the buffet. I lost my appetite on the spot. It’s a health hazard. For the amount we paid, this was unacceptable. The only redeeming feature is the beach – it’s clean, with beautiful turquoise water. And the workers at the Strikers Sports Bar were very accommodating and friendly. Tip: If you’re considering this resort, go to the Maya Caribe side instead – it looks far better maintained from what we’ve seen.
